Re: Barbarian Nerf
Barbarians got nerfed because pure classes are stupid.
Nah, really though, I thought they were fine. They were the only build on the server that could resist divine damage though.

Re: Barbarian Nerf
I thought it was pretty stupid myself. Didn't understand the point of it. Sure, it takes forever to kill a barb, but isn't that the point of being a barb?
I have always imagined that when shamed prepares for relic events, he grabs his bull horn, he finds his Napoleon hat, and he settles in for a weekend of barking orders and generally pissing off everyone in the tc/nc coalition. - Burrahobbit
Re: Barbarian Nerf
Take into account that
dragons get 25%
DWD 30%
and some shifters 50$
i guess linuxpup though 15% was just way too much lol

Re: Barbarian Nerf
Shifters also get 50% vulnerabilities, DWDs don't get rage, dragons... are pretty cool.Alkapwn wrote:Take into account that

Edit: ... but yeah, I mostly agree. While I don't spend that much time in pvp, I can't recall seeing any barbs that seemed unbalanced. Meh.

Re: Barbarian Nerf

Re: Barbarian Nerf
how much damage are we talking in a 5% spread? 1-20 points?
Re: Barbarian Nerf
Bonuses pure barbarians get:
-20% movement rate increase
-50 temp HP
-Bloody roar ability (very nice)
-1d6 magical damage
-Regeneration +15
-Extra attack
-Immunity to physical damage +5%
-AC bonus and no AC penalty from raging
-Bonus to DEX while raging +2
-Bonus to AB +2
So yeah I nerfed them, but they're hardly worthless... they get a decent bag of goodies and that's not including the normal perks of being a barbarian (lots of HP, damage reduction, uncanny dodge, terrifying rage, etc). I had no idea they had immunity to magical, divine, positive, and negative... ha!

Re: Barbarian Nerf
think his point is, that there were bigger fish to fry
Barbs werent broke to start with, and one of the bread and butter
that SL, RK and AO had to work with for raiding toons
TC could actually use them, but heh, why when you can get better DR
AB and AC just handed to ya, but again, thats a different topic

Re: Barbarian Nerf
Not sure how *anyone* can say that RK "needs" barbs for DR compared to TC when RK gets the epic DR class to rule them all. Damage output is another question, but for pure DR, a barb/DwD is the best in the game.
Edit: Oh yeah, and RDD dragons get 25% DI to everything. To me that's definitely comparable, if not better, than barb DR. Dragons also get comparable if not better HP.

Re: Barbarian Nerf
Actually, we have quite a number of barbarians, notably Mixtli and a handful of pre-40s being worked on now.BlkMamba wrote:think his point is, that there were bigger fish to fry

We actually only have... 2? Construct Shapers.
Maybe we make better shifters than barbs, but its not like we don't make both.
Oh, and daral, please stop saying "RDD DR+HP is awesome" 'cos thats druid dragons too :p

you put it that way, and i want to build one lol. don't actually have one atm, always thought of building them but hated the ac/abLinuxPup wrote:Bonuses pure barbarians get:

Re: Barbarian Nerf
A little perspective, folks - Lokey explained when he was working on shifters that they were complicated and took a lot of work ('Hours and hours', I think he said, his free time, BTW), and if he changed one thing there were a lot of unintended consequences. Linux had his reasons for tweaking barbs, which you may or may not agree with, but I imagine he did it now because it was relatively straightforward to do. There's always something that seems overpowered.
