panther druid form lacks haste

Post by Daltian »

I noticed that when I took a level in monk my panther form wasn't hasted anymore? Is that a bug or something implemented when panther had bioware haste and never removed after? If it's on purpose, it really hurts a caster druid builds which aren't considered powerhouse anyway. Cleric/monks get to use haste even with monk levels, why restrict druids to use panther?

IIR it only takes one monk level and you lose your panther haste completely. You don't even get monk speed at lvl 1 monk so you have ZERO speed boost (however blinding speed/haste will get you up to 50% like normal). Once you do get those 3 monk levels (or 6 or 9 or whatever) then you will be running at that speed increase (3 monk levels shifted as panther gives you 10% bump which stacks with haste if haste is cast after you shift, see below).

There are a lot of bugs with monk speed on cross classed monks:
1. If you encounter any speed altering spell (grease, 7th level bigby, etc) you lose your monk speed until you rest.
2. If you put on a shield you won't get ANY speed increase AT ALL even from haste and blinding speed. So if my 3 monk/anything casts haste on himself and then equips a shield I get no speed boost, not just the monk boost missing but the haste/blinding as well.
3. For any sort of shifting, if you get hasted/blinding before you shift into ANY form (panther, dragon, elemental) you will be hasted + monk speed before you shift (in human/dwarf/halfling/elf etc form) but as soon as you shift you will lose your monk speed and only have the haste. So you have to shift before someone hastes you or you hit blinding.

Gona add that if you have monk+haste, and gets blinded, monk part goeas away.

Why would I want to count 12 hours twice? I’m perfectly capable of counting to 24, and while we’re at it, can someone go shoot named time zones. GMT+x is all we need!

I was seeing something similar, 6 monk levels. However, it seemed to depend on order of eqipage. If I hasted while I had a shield or armor equipped (heavy armor), no haste. If I hasted then equipped a shield and/or armor, haste seemed ok.

monk + speed regulation/alteration has always been buggy. alot of it is in the code.

1 monk level only, panther totally loses haste. Not sure if I still have 10% from monk. Should probably test it.

You don't get your first 10% until your 3rd monk level (ie you don't even get the "Monk Speed" feat until Monk 3) so you won't have any bump until you take 2 more monk levels.

Thats right, never really cared about it since you must end up with 5 or more levels anyway.

Is it really worth checking the panther appearance speed and calculating v. barb and monk speed increases (they aren't linear like you'd expect lol)?

Nothing to check really. Right now, if you take a monk level you totally lose speed. Its really noticable difference also because you had it before you took the level of monk. It isn't something that I can't live with, but I must admit that if I was playing that type of char more frequently (right now I only have it on my 29 druid/1 monk crafter) I would be quite annoyed.

If its obviously not working correctly then yes, I would say no matter what it is its worth checking and fixing. I mean if your into that kind of thing.

I guess the Devs have priorities. And panther and haste is on a very low point on the to-do-list.
