This is merely a question designed to help my understanding of some problems with HiPS. This is not a discussion about whats broken and why and if it should be banned or nerfed.
With that little disclaimer out of the way here goes.
All of the talk about HiPS clearing the attack queue left me wondering what in the HiPS code clears all the other queues? I mean there are any number of other actions and abilities performed by players that do not have that effect. Its not the act of hitting the stealth key. Is it the process of forcing a player to make a spot check instantly? I am more interested in the process that HiPS follows in order to fire. Again this is not a philosophical issue, this is a rhetorical question for anyone other than the devs.
A heretofore unasked question I believe.

I put the IO in socIOpath!

Re: A heretofore unasked question I believe.
well..in a long discussion with Lokey HiPS works like this:
its a shortcut/modification to the stealth key. stealth in itself can't be used any other time. HiPS overrides this feature and lets the user shoot straight into stealth mode.
since the game is letting you "disappear" suddenly the engine basically clears all the ques of everyone engaged with the player.
things you can't do with engine:
you can't fire a feedback loop everytime someone uses hips to "snatch and grab" the feat for modification
you can't input a heartbeat script that monitors for use of hips/stealth skills because the hips feat is a direct link to the engine with no stops in between.
you can't monitor the feat because its hardcoded..
if you guys want you can petition bioware to release the coding for the engine..then we can modify the base code of the game easily and fix everything they got wrong

As far as I know, the only thing that remains targeted on a SD once they go into Stealth is Taunt. Its always fun to taunt something you can't see.

Really? Has that been tested? I do not have a high level taunter or I would give it a test myself. I am just more curious than anything.P. It would be great if you were able to go into stealth mode successfully vs enemies that have no direct line of sight.
