New shifting code

Post by Tsavong »

I don't have a shifter but ive got a lvl 30 pure druid with dragon shape and I have somehow gained 9 ac from what I had before (as a dragon). From a little test it would seem that all item AC of any type is no longer converted to 5 dodge ac or whatever it was but now stays its normal type.
Not that im moaning about gaining AC I was wondering as LinuxPup didn't state that item ac stays the same type is it suppose to be this way?

And if this was the intended result why wasn't it stated in the change log?

I have a problem with my gith druid.

In dragon shape, it would appear, my bonus dodge ac from my race bonus is not working. Is it suppose to work like ac from all other equipment sources, i.e. only the single highest ac works?

Obviously, the token cannot be activated while in dragon shape.

To quote LinuxPup:
Because of this change, some of the forms' stats may be different and require tweaking and balancing, but preventing server crashes is top priority for now. If the server crashes when you die in a Greater Wildshape form, please let us know immediately.
For now, focus on if his solution prevents the crashing - if it does, then all the stats will rebalanced.

According to my character sheet, which I am aware is not always correct, my stats now change when I transition screens or pick up/drop something while shifted. The stat enhancements all seem to be removed from the initial shift.

This has never happened before.

I have died recently (pre code change) without crashing the server and have not since the change so not sure if it has done anything in regard to the crashing.
Confusion is just a state of mind.

I had the same problem when transitioned as a red dragon I lost all the boosts to my stats and my ac dropped to what it was when I'm not using any ac giving items

THE NEW SHIFTER CODING WILL MAKE SHIFTERS A LITTLE BUGGY FOR A BIT...THE MAIN GOAL NOW IS TO STOP THE CRASHES, ONCE THEY ARE STOPPED FINE TUNING OF SHAPES AND ABILITIES WILL BE HASHED OUT...

the imported code from 3.5 gives you an auto save to your char when you pick up anything but pick up gold. the custom scripts from 4 auto saves your char every time you transition.

be patient while we try to meld together two pieces of conflicting codes to make things move a little easier. ns4 is a bit more complicated than you would suspect.

Just to add, the character sheet is many times way off unfortunatly the only way to really see what your ab/ac is to check the combat log, you can blame bioware for this one :)

In 3.5 if you picked up items while shifted it would remove all items you were wearing on your character. To counter this you could unshift and manually re-equip, or (I think, can't remember for sure, burrahobbit may know better than I) you could unshift and then reshift and it should place ur items back on. That was purely in 3.5 not sure if it would work here.

worked up my first shifter and i like it alot just got dragon form finaly and ... no dragon fear? what happened to this is it comming back? that was one of the perks that shifter dragons got over druid dragons. if there are other shifter only perks in the works please elaborate some if you can.

some other observations of the forms ...

the harpy and epic harpy seem to have their damage reversed the first harpy form does 5 -40 damage and the epic harpy does 1d8 +1 ? also the harpy song does nothing that i can tell.

the basalisk and medusa gaze both have the same DC even tho one is a lvl 5 form and the medusa is lvl 10 havent tested the epic basalisk yet to see if its better or not.

the risen lords weapon effect has a VERY low DC of 18 and doesent increase with levels ( this one is minor as the form still rocks it hardcore )

the constructs have rather weak damage IMO perhaps adding any weapon elemental damage ( no the physical ) to their attacks would give them the boost.

if you die in any form when you respawn your gear is on but none of the bonuses are you have to re equip it all to fix this or relogg.

ill post more as i find it.

when you die shifted your gear is thrown back on, but you don't gain from it...simply re equip it all piece by piece or reshift. if you shift then deshift after death you get the auto equip back and your gear is fine ;)

heh.. this all reminds me of my days on ns3.5 using my monk/shifter to camp the haunted house for unlimited heal tokens or the Caravan looking for monk helms... Iron golem form was great for avoiding crits from the hobgoblins (would take 100 ragnars to take out 1 of them) or all the magic attacks of the haunted house mobs. The main problem was de-shifting to grab the key or loot and reshift to survive the next wave.
