Aside from extra damage and on hit abilities for arrows, maybe use the extra damage type option.

Help skip some of the obvious "switch to pierce shield" effectiveness in pvp and allow some extra options for pvm.

Well, good archery seems to be rather dependant on the Shadowdancing class or Arcane Archer (duh) class. Ranger is supposed to be archery, but Bioware went retarded and didn't really do much for that cause.

Arcane Archers are either half-elf (hehe) or elf. Both of these are out of range for Ragnar's Kin, so I'm just representing here  . Of course, that doesn't mean good archer builds are off limits. Theres still the SD archer, and I'm sure if I thought on it long enough theres another one out there. Just saying.

Maybe theres already something in store for pure class Rangers archery-wise. Who knows, would be nice if they actually were better at it than the other classes.

Sirus' Sniper wasn't an archer in the sense they're talking about, he was an SD that used a bow, and most of his damage came from hips+sneaks.

Saying that, dex based meleers have to use sneaks or heavy enchantment to get their damage equivalent to a str based toon, i guess it's not unreasonable to expect the same from archers.

Rogue/SD/x works pretty well.

monk/wiz/aa works well for a straight up archer.

siruses archer was a archer. class didn't matter. he had nothing but archer skillz. if anyone went melee with hi ( and yes we tested ) he drpped like a rock.

hence archers shouldn't go melee.

one of my favorite , not a heavy hitter but fun.... druid, rouge, sd.

there imobolizing spells and epic summons help u pwn while u unload arrows. ull get good damage and the imobolizing effects help a lot. but there is lots of patience needed.

archers are cool if built right.

Well, my main point here was that Rangers are supposed to be an archer class but they're more suited for dual melee than anything instead of archery.

And dual-wielding stinks because a shield is +9 ac, and 25% and 20/ damage protection.

So then implement something like the two-weapon defense in PnP, but mixed with Parry. Have it so that every 5 points in the parry skill gives you +1 dodge AC while duel weilding. Thus, dual weilders still get the AC, but it's a trade off between extra attacks and DR. Much more even.

It'd have to be a token that checks the base parry skill, checks for a shield, then applies dodge ac until weapon slots are changed (swap weapons, disarm, or put on shield).

That it would, or something else along those lines, but it'd be a good solution none the less.
