pk -> lost item

Post by disastro »

well i learned the hard way today that if you die in pk with less than some amount of gold, you lose a random item to the person who pkd you. i had thought this feature was disabled and wasnt keeping track of cash in an otherwise fun bout of pk. (at least that is the explanation i got for what happened).

its weird since you dont lose cash for dying in pk as far as i know, so wasnt expecting anything to happen if you fall below whatever the threshold is.

if this is intentional it would be cool if an explanatory line was put in the combat log indicating what exactly happened. i.e. 'you have less than x cash, item x given to player y'

also, if this is meant to be the case it would be more consistent to lose cash on EVERY pk, (else have no cash loss and no item loss.)

you only loose items/cash when PK occurs in a hostile city by one of the citys players. the player that pks you also gets some xp from it if your close in level.

Wow... it's been this way for a LONG time now! At first you ALWAYS lost a randomly equipped item, but people cried about it and nobody was raiding, so it was changed that you need 30k+ (or so) to avoid losing anything.

But the HNs do appreciate your contribution to our mules. Please come to LA again anytime we're around and we can accept more contributions.

its all good. ive just never encountered this before so i was surprised. its weird that you lose items if you are < 30k gold, but if you have over that amount you lose nothing? not sure why its that way.

anyway an explanatory combat log would go a long way.

hmm.. normally you should lose some gold when you are pk'd in 'owned' land by a resident of the land.

next time I'm on come to crossroads and we can test it out ;P.

I'm glad this system is in place, because it takes a BIT of the heat off of LA when people chain-raid, respawning in evenshire and then run a few screens back to LA, at least after a while they have to go and get more gold or the'll start losing things :].

*hat tip* Genius dev solution and flawless execution.

well it really doesnt do anything for spam raiding since getting gold is pretty trivial, especially if you bind in a spot that doesn't have travel costs to raid like ave/angmar.

Doesn't sound like it was trivial to me...

Serving NS4 proper as Lathander and Sleeth as Bahamut.

Yes, I'm a DM, but your build still sucks.

Actually its more like <4-7k gold, depending on the amount you loose. It's random. Thus if at one point you have less gold in the inventory than the random amount, you will loose an item instead (correct me if I'm wrong). Which in my case mostly is a ring. I almost always get a ring or loose one heh.

*begins to sob anew over two lost glimmer kamas and a skull harvester to a particularly EVILLE as in the Fru-itts of the Deville, bard [cough] Jekyl [cough]* ;)

Must you always point out my shame and open those old wounds Nye?

*New rounds of sobs, blows noes with snot soaked handkercheif*

So no I didn't mean disarmed lol. Though I've been the victim of being disarmed as well. Forgot to add a drowned pirate blade to that list, first weapon that was ever taken from me in my noob days by another particularly evil player, ;) he is an "unknown one" but maybe not so unknown then or now :).
