Hello all , thinking of making an epic lvl barbarian and just have a question about this feat :
it says causes panic - can someone offer some feedback on weather A - this means if your immune to fear your also immune to panic.
And B - related to A i guess is or would this feat be basically useless in the planes aka lvl 25 + i notice planar enemies are ammune to a lot of stuff
nope. my expierence has been that it pretty much works pretty good and high enough Intimadate can even get some of the epic dwarves. Though Elemental planes haveseemed pretty immune and undead etc. PVP Terrifying Rage is quite effective, abit of focus and it'll be rare to not instill a little bit of fear into yer lessers. DC 68 ithink is the highest i seen. not to hard to get but not the most devastating ability either. I'd go with a taunt efs first but if ya haveroom throw in the intimadate
The biggest gripe I have with the feat is that it's killed by FoM, which makes absolutely no sense to me. What makes even less sense is this:
If you are of equal or higher level than the barbarian, you will not be feared, but will have -2 to attack and dmg (and I think a couple other things). For who knows what reason, FoM protects about that as well. Now you can argue that fom should stop against the paralasys portion, but there's no excuse for it nullifying the lower skill effect.
This is an issue I'd like to see the Devs take up, especially with the new barb pure tokens being worked upon.

I've already talked with a DM about the FoM issue on the para. I'm well aware of the standing on that so far, but...

I think you read through my post a little too quickly. That was the main point I was trying to make

I believe it was nerfed once already by reducing the Intimidate roll to 1d10 instead of 1d20. However 1d10+Intimidate can still well excede a will save roll of 50+. I would love to see terrifying rage not be affected by FoM but it may make things more difficult if everything runs away from you in fear instead of standing still for you to beat on them as they do now.
Its not really important if its convenient... being afraid is still terrible for the opponent... they can run into monsters ... or get cornered and get beaten by the barbarian.
Maybe make it so if the scared victim fails their save by more than 10 then its paralysis, otherwise its fear. So if they're *really* scared then they don't know what to do and just freeze, but they might be scared but have enough sanity still to just run for it.
It seems that a high level focused barbarian's terrifying rage should max out around a DC of 35 to 45 or so. And as we know, many players will have a tough time making that save. Of course mind or fear immunity or should make you immune.
Given the number of casters out there that can counter it with a quick spell, I don't see what the problem with a high DC is. If you don't like it, just boost your concentration stat in your build. It's not that hard to counter if you're willing to rethink your builds a bit.
Which is exactly the point of this game, no? Having to counter an ability instead of just having one that you're vulnerable to nerfed.
EDIT: Opps, I thought it was a concentration check. Anyways, just make it a concentration vs intimidate check, and your problem is solved.
