Help, lost my faction

Post by Tinsicka »

It happened 2 days ago while I was defending our relic in the Garagoth Tower of Sorcery against a very fast little monk called Pugar.

We were the only two in the place apart from some mystral guards and watch. Now Pugar is very quick and the only way I can stop him is by knocking him down first. So I was running around the room trying to target him best as I could when all of a sudden the guardians of my city turned hostile on me. I had no clue what was happening, I kept on chasing Pugar till he ran out with the relic (of course :D) and then I also ran out to try and figure out what was going on.

Pugar then sent me a tell asking if I had lost my faction. I said I don't know but everybody turned hostile in there, what happened? He said you knocked down your own guard and they turned on you. He also was very helpful and explained how such a thing can happen and how to avoid it.

But now I can't go home anymore. :(

Can one of the Gods help me please? It's Christmas after all and I've been good. I'll even leave milk and cookies.

Character's name is Ismé [IO]
She had just turned level 40 when it happened.

they're usually not quite that harsh. just hitting someone once won't usually make you an outcast. killing someone usually will, and causing enough damage over time will (easy with spells such as spike growth).

It happened like I said it did, no magic was involved apart from Bard Song.

When she hit me, I believe she lagged and locked up. Best I can tell is that she KD'd a guard I ran close to, they turned on her, she killed a couple enemies (with the lag...probably unintentional), and that's that.

More than a couple of enemies were killed and she probably didn't even know it.

For what it's worth, I'll vouch that it was an accident. If you can change it cool...would hate to lose a defender.

Thanks for the support LunarSquirrel, much appreciated.

Yes I have a lot of lag as I'm on dial-up, it's the only thing available in the area I live in. It's my problem, I choose to play anyways so I have to live with it.

As for Ismé it's no big deal, she's the first pvp character I've ever created so I made many mistakes with her. Hopefully Aria the new bard I'm making will be much better, I've listened to some good advice and hopefully I've learned a few things. I also have another char I'm working on that will have 10 levels of wizard which should be really interesting since I've never (keeps her manual handy) had a wizard before, so cut me some slack. :D

Anyways I promise I wont let either of them use IKD when I'm defending my relic and have some of our guards around. :D

So lets close this thread and forget the whole thing. I'm learning, I'm having a lot of fun doing it, which is the important thing and what playing this game is all about.

Merry Christmas everybody! :)

There is some kind of strange bug with targeting that I've noticed, it seems to only come into effect in PvP situations with NPCs in the same area...

When targeting an enemy for a KD, sometimes the KD will fire and hit a friendly NPC! And I don't mean that you miss-click, this has happened to me when using the right-click radial menu on the enemy to KD just to be sure. It's mostly in high-lag situations with AoE spells going off and npcs clustering around enemies, so it's probably just lag-related.

Also, you have to watch out for targeting bigby's and implodes, as well as Solars and Slaad's AoE spells hurting/killing friendly npcs, sometimes causing you to lose your faction...

I found that if you kill everyone and everything in the city then the problem goes away... at least for the time being. Unfortunately Garagoth has a nasty habit of turning on it's heroes and defenders during relic defense situations.

hehe. your solution to being outcast is to slaughter the ungrateful ****s?
The idea has some merit - take the opportunity to harvest some of your own faction gear while you have an excuse and hope the gods haven't noticed when you ask for absolution :)

No sense being from an evil faction if you are not going to act accordingly.
