Drow "new darkness" bugs

On the map where your drow uses its darkness ability...

1) Your drow will fall out of combat after each and every kill it makes. Cleave will not work. You will not continue to attack foes attacking you once you kill one.

2) Your drow will fall out of combat and not attack a monster that you try to attack with a melee weapon that is outside your aura. When the monster enters your aura, it momentarliy disappears, causing your drow to drop out of combat.

There may be some other strangeness going on, but I was able to definitely confirm those two issues on the map where you use the darkness ability. I didnt try ultravision or see invis for these cases to see if they have any effect.

I tried using the standard darkness with deekin last night. I cast it without UV and walked through it without everthing going dark. Then i lured a giant through it. He disappeared when he stepped in it and i didnt see him again until he came out. Though I cant say anything for sure. There was heavy lag at the time and giants were jumping around everywhere.

what happens if you casted UV?

More testing results:

All the stuff I mentioned before happens when you use the darkness ability and then go to another map.

It doesnt happen when you use ultravision.

So, basically, the drow darkness ability gives you all the negative effects of having darkness cast on you with the only positive effect of having 20% conceal. You must use ultravision with it otherwise you are subject to sneak attacks from foes and falling out of combat.

i don't mean to sound negative..but it sounds like the new upgrade to darkness is just as buggy as the previous version. except its effecting players instead of mobs...


Great Job Devs...i love it when this stuff happens, makes things more interesting. :twisted:
if i didn't do it...someone else would have.
