Familiars? Why no Familiars?

Why can I not summon my familiar? Will this be enabled later on?

I was gonna post this in a new topic, but since RF brought it up I'll just piggy-back on it...

To answer your question, Raven, familiars and animal companions are currently disabled while the Devs tinker with them.

I was just wondering if we could get an update on this feature, as its been disabled for quite some time now and severely imbalances the gameplay for several character classes. My sorcerer takes forever to level and a druid is only slightly less vulnerable at low levels.

Any updates? "Throw me a frickin bone here... need the info!"

I dont know what you guys are talking about!!! I dont need my stinking familiar, i have a lvl 1 chicken that is plenty of protection Except when i run into those pesky rats.....

I didn't have any trouble getting my wizard (Squiggles) to 17th with no familiar. I'd imagine you could probably do it with a Sorc as well (you just have to be EXTRA careful about spell choices rather than really careful!). Just buy a crossbow and shoot stuff while your summon chews on it...

Druids have still have their summons and Animal Empathy works as well. I think Ancient Dire Bears got made uncharmable but regular Dire Bears are probably still a viable option.

So yeah I wouldn't say no to a level 17 Panther pet with uber sneak attacks but by the same token you can survive quite well without one. You just have to be crafty!

Any current status on these critters? What sort of general changes were being looked at?
