I don't think they do character deletes as its a databse thing.

Would take away from time to work on beta problems.

All characters will be, according to some posts I've read, wiped after beta is done.

According to several of the Dev posts I've read, I'd anticipate a character wipe a lot sooner than the end of the beta. Don't get too attached to your chars.

Just to confirm, character deletion at this point isnt really possible. The database tracks a whole lot more than what the normal server vault does. Removing the character file in the vault still leaves tons of stuff logged in the database and if by some odd chance you were to use the same name again the UID for the previous character of the same name would be applied to the new one.

I've accepted a long time ago that there would be a pwipe at the end of beta, and i understand the reasons why it must happen. But doing it before would just mean there's a beta phase 2 and that the overall time of beta testing will be longer. In order to test thru the whole spectrum of levels it's gonne take extra time for people to reach those levels after a wipe, especially if the wipe happens before the introduction and testing of epic level areas has been done.
It would also affect the playerbase since some people might not accept losing characters twice, since i assume that there will be another wipe at the ultimate end of beta testing.

Its been no secret that there would be wipes along the way. The fact that there hasnt been one yet is basicly icing on the cake for the players. However equating hard work and reaching level 40 in a mod not currently supporting such a level just proves bullheadedness, some players though will just continue to do lap after boring lap of rat killing just so they can say "I did it". What they are really saying is "We dont care that its beta, we really just want to be bored with the same character forever."

Level 40 in NS4 isnt an accomplishement IMO, its a masochistic mania proving only that they are better at monotony than the challenges that are in the game thus far. I have been with NS4 since well before the open beta, my total count of level 40's is zero. My highest level character to date is 32, and that one was powerleveled by another DM to test a possible bug. As a player, I hit 25 and start a new one, rats hold no great interest for me, and I pity the player mentality that does find it so fascinating.

Oh for goodness sake TGPO. People play the way want to play. Some people like to keep a certain character, others like to experiment and diversify. Main thing is that the enjoy themselves. I havent got a level 40 either, but I'm sure those who do don't need or want your pity.
