Chests bash

I've been bashing through locked chests for sometime now, and I've never seen the content after a chest is destroyed.

Is it normal behavior ?

Personnaly, I think it gives an advantage to rogues which is good (even if it means i ll not be able to get the chests content).

You must disarmed it before bashing it to get the content.

It's a known bug that the devs have tried to fix. As of now, if you bash a chest, you destroy the contents.

Although keep bashing away at them if you wish, it is not a 100% thing. I have unlocked more than one chest with my trusty axe and been rewarded for it.
