Spell Resist Question

Post by rodney_ws »

Given that monks receive spell reistance just for being monks, will that ability be enhanced by SR type items or do the abilities not stack? I've come across several SR type items of varying capability, but have yet to have a monk ranked high enough to use them. Any idea if SR stacks in this manner?

Ok, so my obvious follow-up question is... does taking the SR feat add to the Monk's already high SR? Surely they wouldn't let us waste feats like that.

Yes, the spell resistance feat stacks with monk's spell resistance. It won't stack with spell resistance from items or race though.

I want to know where or how you know that Improved Spell Resistance does not stack with a sub-race bonus. Where do people read these things? I search the forums and see nothing... I hate finding out this crap after I've already started my character. Anyone?

Actually I got it from the forum - someone mentioned that racial abilities (including spell resists) are basically item effects - and those don't stack

That was probably me.

The Improved SR epic feat is tied to the Monk's Diamond Soul feat, is it not? Since Diamond Soul is a prereq' for Improved SR. That sorta makes the question of racial SR stacking with Improved SR moot.

Most likely it stacks...why? because the coded in working of the ISR feat is it ADDS to the SR already on the character.

Can we have SR items? ultra rare but ultra useful.

My wizard has a robe with spell resistance on it. 22 to be more precise.

Well, sr's usefulness depends imo. Anything under 20 is useless to me, unless it's a low low lvl item. The leonsbane robes are nice b/c they resist a good amount of spells regularly, even if they're not high lvl spells.
