Is there a way to prevent / minimise the game crashing when a hellball goes off?
It happens to me 50% of the time. Running NWN under Wine in Linux.

Best fix I have 
Did you install directx? If so, lower sound acceleration usually helps. Also what's wine version?

wine-1.5.17
no directx installed that I can recall. I've set sound to emulation so see how that goes.
I dont recall ever having crash issues as bad as this before - at least not with Wine + Linux.
