I just want to share that you dont have to actually put a port. I didnt find this anywhere so ima post it here.

If you are running multiple computers and have opened the specific ports, you can then put the port touse as "any" on teh 2nd comps and it will never conflict. I tried like 5-10 different ports and it wasnt working on my 3rd comp. Curently this has not caused any issues so just postin incase it happenes to someone else.

Just to clarify your port will look like this

Port:XXXX

You can change it to

Port:any

Use at your own risk not sure if it can mess anyting up but so far no probs at all.

Hi, I'm timing out again. Player Name Andrew Nightingale. I am bringing some friends into NS and gave one of them my CD keys, I bought separate ones for myself, but when I changed them I started either getting booted out of NS upon log in, or most of the time it just says timed out. I can play on all the other servers I've tried with my friends, but I'm hoping we can play on NS since its the best! Its been going on for 5 hours or so. I'll keep trying from time to time. Thanks for suggestions.

Did you turn the security off on that specific build?

I changed the security on the nwncdkey file to change the keys, but I changed the security settings back to normal after and it still didn't work. other than that nothing on the computer has changed, and its been working fine for weeks. Is there somewhere else I should turn security off?

thanks!

On your characters:

/enablesecurity
/disablesecurity
In game.

(I think I got that right, normally I write in the wrong thing in party chat and someone corrects me :))

I'm having this issue now too. I understand the security feature now... but on my main PC I'm getting the time out issue every time I try to log in.

I'm having this same issue on my sister's cpu. She's been having lot of issues lately playing. Yesterday she had a duplicate cd key problem that evidently others who got their game with gamestop digital download have had. I'm not sure why but she uninstalled it and when she went to reinstall it, it was gone from her gamestop list. And she didn't copy the cd keys before uninstalling so to my knowledge they're lost. So then she logged onto my dad's Gog.com account and downloaded his from there. We then played yesterday, but she forgot to disable security on one of her chars(from her gamestop codes) so we can no longer access it. I logged on today to try to do a remake of her character for her but got the duplicate cd key problem again. So I saved her codes somewhere else then replaced them with some codes I found in her documents. Now however, it says the server is not responding (timed out). All I've seen on other posts is "it's fixed" so I'm guessing it has just been fixing itself or is a dm fix?

Resolved(I think): Sorry, guess I should have done a tad more snooping around before I posted :P I think I found that you have to change your port client if you change your cd key. I did so and it let me in. If I run into any more problems later the I'll re-edit the post :)

Roadhouse.

The host file add works like a charm - log in is faster than when Bioware was up.
