Re: Monk Speed and Haste

Post by ashsagoon »

Well I had an 11 monk with blinding speed and it did stack for sure. So I know it's not any lower than that.

As for the ranger speed Crazy, my 21 ranger had blinding speed also and when he wasn't using it he noticed a speed increase outside, however if he used blinding speed he was the same speed as a normal person hasted. So I think the ranger speed increase is a passive one like the fighter or barb (not the barb haste) where it just gets overwritten by haste.

Laufer, I understand your math and was just copying what you wrote. I'm just saying you had your numbers wrong. You had listed that at level 12, a monk has a 30% increase, but it is actually a 40% increase. At level 15 it is a 50% increase not a 40% increase. I wasn't doubting your math or your method just the numbers you used on those two in particular.

I'm not sure how any of the other movement speed increases work (ie NC token and such), I think those are different.

Anyway, looks like the answer is that haste/blinding speed will give you a speed increase up to and including level 14. At level 15 it stops.

Thanks again guys :)

I just heard earlier when I was on that haste no longer will stack with anything. I havent seen any news and announcements noting this, and havent been able to test this myself... but pre-wipe level 14 monk stacked and 15+ did not.

Korr,

Im guessing that someone fed you misinformation. I can tell you that I now have a level 9 monk and blinding speed and haste both stack so far (well not both at the same time). I won't be able to test it further but it works to this point.

I think that at level 9-11 with haste you get 195% (99% certain)
With 12-14 you get 200% (tho the math would be 210% the cap 200 applies. (97% certain)
At level 15+ you are already at 150% so a casted haste thinks the spell is already in effect and does not apply. (Just a guess but makes sense based on Korr's info)

Speed % boost from haste is: 50 - (10 X (Monk Level / 3));

if the % value is 0 or lower, we don't give a speed boost... but we still give an extra attack, +1 AB/AC, and +1 to reflex saves.

Its been like this for a long time.

Ok so things havent been changed...

50 - (10 * (12 / 3)) = 10.... haste works
50 - (10 * (15 / 3)) = 0... no haste

It's engine weirdness.

We wanted a 150% base pc movement as a speed limit, and the only script function to increase movement rate is a multiplier, not an addition.

I actually built a race course, results didn't match what Bioware says happens, so you get what you got (maybe they patched, but they never mentioned it).
