Items not seen in NS4
Items not seen in NS4
How come there are no bags of holding? No containers of anything except the "box".
We need scroll tubes that actually hold scrolls.
And Quivers...why are those not in NS4?

because we want you to lug that crap around...just like you don't get haste boots

Re: Items not seen in NS4
Kinda thinking of something with at least a different look. 2 years of looking at these boxes is enough. Variety is the spice of life. So dont do the weight reduction bags, how about a few different types. But the scroll tubes are needed, and dont give me the weight thing, they weigh almost nothing(the scrolls that is).

Re: Items not seen in NS4
the no bags of weight reduction really helps to cut down on the utter uberness of dex builds. ns3 had that problem... there was absolutely no point in str builds, dex was orders of magnitude better.
on a pure dexer here you'll run into real weight problems, especially for relic raiding. dex still has the edge for overall effectiveness i think, but it's nowhere near as bad as ns3.
i always thought the final bit of balancing for that would be to make armor DR dependent on it's weight/maxdex: so heavy platers would get dr 20/- with not so much ac, and dex armor would have the AC advantage but would only go to like dr 15/-
so you couldnt have both uber ac and uber dr, it would give different playstyles different flavor.

Btw - the balance between heavy/medium/light armors is something we're trying to address in NS5.

There's some good medium armor in DWP and a new area that comes with 1.69.

Re: Items not seen in NS4
I wonder if something can be done with armor in NS4?? not a global nerf, but a boost to medium and heavy.
robes: +6 ac max
med: +7 ac max
heavy: +8 ac max
Also, what about giving "Chanter's Shroud" a negative 10% spell failure and make it bard-only... that way it conforms to the rule "bards can cast in light armor" as seen in nwn2/3.5, AND makes a VERY unused armor a lot more useful. {Would be nice to get the "battle caster" feat somehow to allow 0% failure in medium armor too heh - perhaps if a pure bard bonus scheme comes in...}

Actually heavy are fine. Light and medium armours need the most love.
And I agree with Chanter's Shroud. Nothing is more annoying than the 10% casting failure.

Re: Items not seen in NS4
That would be an idea for pure bards.
If it were a regular item with "Bard Only" slapped on it, bard/sorc could use it, UMD wouldn't have a problem equipping.
A custom script might be needed to enforce it for pure bards only.

Re: Items not seen in NS4
Are chanter Shrouds really that great for non-bards? So much that we have to worry about
other classes wearing it? I mean its not that great unless your a bard anyways. I think a simple
solution for them would be to make them "none" armor. As they are there pretty much
useless for most builds. Thoughts?

Re: Items not seen in NS4
For clarification I wasn't asking for weight reduction items. I was asking for different styles and more variety of holding containers, when I asked for "bags of holding". As far as scroll tubes and quivers, original request remains.

Re: Items not seen in NS4
I hate to break it to you but NS4 has a dex problem aswell. As the poster above mentioned light armor shouldnt have the same dr stats that heavy armor does IMO.
Hopefully in NS5 wink nod twitches nose, that will be the case Flailer. IF you want high ac fine, but you will sacrafice dr by the truck load.

Don't they already sacrifice DR as most dexers don't use a shield (mind you towers shields weigh 45 lbs now). Most dexers can't even carry 'em as loot.
This goes back to the 'but it's magical armor, and magic can do anything'.
