Ambush

Post by Metis »

Blade paced in his small room. It had fallen apart that old fool brought others to help him. The token saved me but, failure was not an option. As he awaited his next orders he wanted to punish those that went to the city of avendell. The guards tried to protect many of the travelers on roads. Blade would see blood, he sent messangers to any cutthroat and brigand he could find.

Kill them all and destroy the caravans, we will starve the city of Avendell.

DB Rudash looks at the message he has received.

It promises great wealth, but he cares not for material things.

It promises revenge against those who would wrong his would-be employer, but again this holds no interest.

It promises wholsale slaughter of good and innocent people.

Now he is interested.

Jaromaru Shadowbane picked his way among the shadows of the silver road. A currious piece of partchment on the ground caught his eye. Bending over he picked it up and read.

"To all those of dastardly decent, Use any and all of your methods of havoc to bring dissmay and uncertainty to the people of Avendel. Take thier supplies, kill there women and children. Starve thier livestock and make them pay for thier insolence."

Vilely yours "Blade"

*ppfftt* Scoffed the shadow of sleeth. "The Dragon Lords will not like this. I wonder if Red has seen this" he spoke quietly to himself. Quickly as he appeared the Shadow dissapeared into the mist.

The gates of Sleeth compound opened without a sound. Barley visible was the shadow as it skipped across the pavement to the DCN guild hall. Knocking once quickly and sharply the Shadow Dancer waited. A small hole opened in the door and a voice was heard, "What is your business?"
a sharp raspy voice asked. "My business is with Red, underling fetch her or feel my scythe" Jaromaru responded sharply. He knew that no matter what he would never harm a member of the DCN but time was of the essence. A short time later the hole opened again, the voice said "She is not here, Go the Avendel and meet her in the inn." with that the hole closed and there was no more to say. As quietly as he came the Shadow dissapeared on his way to Avendel.

"Jaromaru." The voice echoed across to the hilltop inn. "Come and sit with me." As the Shadow Dancer walked into the inn with no fear he saw the Leader of the DCN sitting on the couch waiting for him. As he sat down Red said " so i hear a rumor you need to speak with me?" "Yes" Said the Shadow "I have something to show you" With that he handed the partchment to Red and waited for her response. At last she spoke "So this is what? You trying to get in our good graces?" The Shadow looked up in surprise, "actually yes, I was hoping for that but not this soon, this Blade seems intent on starting some kind of counter organization. This could lead to a dissruption in the ecconomy and that means less money." This last remark caught Red off gaurd. "Hmmmmm" "I suppose you are right, this will be no easy task however. You must first bring us a weapon of great power for our armory before we can be ready to accept you into our ranks and do battle with this Blade. A problem he will be, but we don't just give our support to anyone here"
The Shadow rose from his chair "Understood, My lord" and with that the shadow was gone. Smiling to himself as he went. "This was turning out better than I could have asked for, not only did i gain favor with DCN but there is battle in the air. I love it when a plane comes together."

Blade couldn't stop smiling after his spy made her report. He couldn't make her think she did enough, no one could ever do enough as far as he was concerned.

"You must the route they will be taking, there are no safe ways into Avendell so find where the guards are being sent to clear areas." With that he waved his hands dismissevly.

He thought a moment then called in Gorn, the only man he almost trusted. "You must take this message to any who will obey." He began to write on the parchment:

The Mighty One does indeed smile on me. A group of much needed people will be traveling to Avendell, merchants, blacksmiths, everything a town needs to prosper. You must capture and bring them to me. They will surely be guarded so you must kill all the guards before you bring them. You will be reimbursed accordingly but ONLY if they come alive, If I wanted them dead I would stick my own blade in all of their backs. It is only a few days away and soon I will know the exact route they will be taking.

Go'f

Post by Go'f »

On reading the brief it instantly occurs to Go'f that yet again mastery over life and death will come in handy. Should one of the targets become "damaged" they shall be returned to this world in a state of some health for as long as it takes to exchanged them for there full worth.

This is should be somewhat amuzeing.

The commanders of Avendell sat looking over a map.
"lets have the reinforcements meet us in the overgrown forest, from their head through that cursed old town. I will send some men to the town to clear it out, I am sure it will be safe passage from their." One of them said and the rest nodded in agreement.

------

Blade thought for a moment. "Ok, have our new employees meet in that town with those disgusting halflings, Evenshire or some such name. Be sure to tell them to make sure they are all there before going into Old Town North. Kill the guards there and ambush the rest when they arrive." He grins for a moment "I will wait in the tavern there, either drinking or killing whatever suits my mood."

Gorn nodded and walked out. Blade turned to the other person in the room and tossed her a bag of gold. "You have done well the rest of your payment will be made when I get those peasants, no go before they realize you are gone Commander Leona."

Blade sat on the chairs mumbling curses. This had been a disaster, only one of them showed and he lasted about as long as the blink of an eye.

“Perhaps you should plan things out a little better?” Leona said from the corner, making no effort to hide the smile.

“Watch yourself witch, you serve me! If you need to be reminded again it will be a painful lesson.” He snapped at her. He knew that was a mistake, Blade never showed his emotions she knew he was about to break and as much as he started hating her he needed her badly, he knew that, and so did she.

Without changing her amused look Leona chanted words of magic, within seconds Blade was held unable to move a muscle. With a wink she casted again and from a seemingly firey pit a demon appeared. Without hesitation it rushed at Blade. “Stop” She said still in an amused voice, the demon immediately stopped just in front of him. “Come here” Again without pause or emotion it obeyed her. As she walked up to him the smile fell, replaced by disgust.

“Listen to me worm, I could crush you in an instant and I only let you live because we serve the same master.” She glared at him a moment longer then began smiling again. “Now, it failed and it is done but I have been given great support and praise for my tactical handling of the attempted ambush. Such fools they are, offering me any post I want for performing my ‘duties’. I run the Avendell city guard now.” She turned and started walking out; just before she reached the door she turned back.

“Next time we meet I expect you to be civil.”

He could move again once the door closed. He gave her a silent curse, she had grown powerful more then he realized. Shrugging it off, he went into a secret room he made and sat next to the idol waiting for his next orders or his death for failure.
