Wipe or Not

I have been hearing about the server wipe after the beta so every often that I cannot make up my mind how much time should I investigate in playing. However, a post by Joran also said there will be NO WIPE. So could anyone confirm this please?

You sure that wasnt refering to when NS4 went down for a rebuild?

I dont think anyone knows whether there'll be a vault wipe or not at this stage, guess we'll have to wait and see...

IMO a wipe is kind of needed, look at all the exploits floating around, the millions of dollars etc. Doesn't do much good to ballance the economy with a few billion GP extra floating around =/ Wont take us too long to rebuild our chars anyways.

A wipe at the end of the beta will be needed i suppose, for sooooo many reasons that i won't type 'cause i am too lazy

In Jorans post where he said there would be no wipe was after a fix was put it. They thought they would have to wipe to get the bugged charaters out, but they did not have to.

You can count on wipes during beta, you can also count on one at the end of beta before it goes to open. It has been said many times. This is beta, it is for testing purposes. If you don't want to be a part of the testing then I'd recommend you waiting till it's fully released.

I think there will be a wipe, if for no other reason than my characters have like 25+ sets of the +5 con bracers which no longer exist

. Well anyway there likely will be a wipe once they are done balancing items, which is still a ways off. So either you can play and enjoy it, or if the fear of immenet wipe bothers you, don't play as much. There is still some chance there won't be a wipe but we'll see. Something I'm going to test soon is whether vorpal is subject to auto fail, if it is, well I'll expect vorpal weapons to be removed and a wipe to occur

The will likely be a server wipe once the open beta is closed. However, I would not mind keeping my char.

While I understand this is a beta server, I have to think about the amount of time spent exploring, hunting, etcetera, knowing a server wipe is imminent.

As I said in the post above. There will be a wipe 110% when NS4 is released and out of beta. No guessing. This will happen, period.

For a lack of a better word, and it may be the best description of your playing characters... they are testing characters. Some test characters encounter all kinds of bugs and issues therefor it is usually best to do a clean wipe of all characters once beta is declared completed. During the testing process, wipes can also occur, those are at the disgression of the development team.

The Devs will post what and when things will happen.

I would just like the DELETE option to be enabled to get rid of all the crap 1st level characters I messed up during creation...

Enable it, and post a disclaimer saying you're screwed if you made a mistake!

beta is probably gonna last for a good few months (6 maybe?)
there's a ton of stuff to test, new quests, areas, synergy etc.

there might be a wipe or something in the middle somewhere when enough things have changed and they need to see how the balance is.

anyway, that's my guess
