1. Are there ever any penalties assessed for using the "Death Express?" I only used it once and there didn't seem to be any losses, but I want to be sure.

2. Can a player who is much higher leveled just walk by and whack me dead in one hit at a low level and cause me to lose 30,000 gold? Because at a low level, that is a loss I cannot afford. Or do lower level characters have to instigate the fight?

Generally speaking, you shouldn't get a penalty for using the Death Express. I've had rare situations where I've been in a party with a member of an opposing faction, and I've used Death Express as they drop party which can cause xp/gp loss if they are nearby. As long as you don't hit the respawn button while there are enemy players/npcs nearby, you shouldn't have anything happen.

PvP is encouraged, and there are no level restrictions as far as who can attack who. Generally, when killed in PvP, you should not lose xp/gp on respawn. This has been known to happen, such as when you're engaged in combat with monsters/npcs, but you usually will not incur a penalty when killed by another player.

Most people tend to wait until the lowbie they're hunting is out of combat so they can still pk without causing loss of xp/gp. Looks like you ran into someone who's a big meanie.

I think you're only supposed to lose 10% of your gp total. Did you have 300,000? If so, I wouldn't be too concerned about 30k...

You must have been killed by that player while you were in that player's faction's territory. If you did not have 30,000 gold on you, you would've lost a random item in your inventory.

Oh it's OK no player killed me in combat, I was just wondering about the various penalties.

Just wanted to know what they were ahead of time from ppl on the boards instead of hearsay.
