Frozen Guardians

Post by Lorkar1 »

Anyone know what the ability is, or the action, that allows the frozen guardian to drop a player out of IE and out of combat with the frozen guardian seeming not to have HiPS?
You can be in a mob of 20 with IE going and suddenly you find yourself standing there with your thumb up your butt taking a beating.
This is something that happens on a regular basis when engaging in combat with the guardians.
I am 99% sure that it isn't frozen skeletal monks, lost orders since I have gone through the mobs and weeded out all but one creature type and I haven't noticed this effect coming from either of the other creatures.

Nothing to do with any ability, deals with the path AI. This usually happens with lots of small creatures (rats, rabid chickens). One moves, you follow, and all the others reposition. The engine recalculates paths and sometimes they intersect. The result is, you stop flat-footed. The lost order gloves are considered small creatures and are probably what intersects your path. Nothing can be done to prevent, just keep any eye on battle and be ready to click on something if you stop.

Perhaps it's a death-attack/spell of some sort? I've found that death spells sometimes drop you out of combat, if you make the save or are immune -- this happens on ns3.5 as well, especially in places where a mob is spamming a full load of quickened-hasted wails.

Having gone back and redone the Icy Crypt at least a dozen times, it seems that Charles I's explanation seems to be spot on. It just blows that when you have a mob around you that you would drop out of combat when there are plenty of targets there to beat on.
