Wild Wood & Circle cradle access
Wild Wood & Circle cradle access
I'm not sure when Wild Wood was added, and maybe I missed a discussion, but I can't find any reference by searching...
Wild Wood makes Melencia and The Circle's relic cradle probably the easiest to access now. I was extremely surprised where I ended up when exploring Wild Wood. I was expecting that both entrances to Wild Wood would be much more out of the way, and that Wild Wood would be harder to get through.

Totally irrelevant. Wildwood gives you access almost directly to the cradle. After you raid their cradle, you don't have to run through the city, or even get near any guards. Wildwood gives you a convenient access to a dragon transport too. Wildwood makes TCs the easiest and fastest relic cradle to get to.mgrjebbo wrote:TC has the most guards of any faction, not to mention they are pretty uber compared to other guards.
Considering that most raiders are 40 or near 40 anyways, the relative strenth makes little difference. Especially since the last time I checked, SL's are stronger. Plus, almost all of the guards can simply be avoided, with a half decent knowledge of the forest, and the little detail that we're right in the middle of everything now, even more then we used to be.

yes then you have to think, how often TC even has a relic?
*cough*
seriously though, doesnt it make it much eaiser for you guys to raid?
take the dragon to wherever, grab relic, take dragon home, cap relic.
seems like a double edged sword to me and you guys are just looking at the side thats cutting you not the side thats cutting your enemy.

Wild Wood is about a quarter the distance, makes Melencia's cradle the easiest raid, and makes Melencia's the much harder to defend than it was before.Zing wrote:A double-edged sword indeed...
And actually the Wild Wood is comparable to getting to Beryn via Melencia Pass and Sleeth Hills, maybe slightly easier, but still there's barely a map in it.
On the other hand, it makes Melencia a prime location for some quick looting, though there aren't many good drops there.

Not really Mydyr, I'd still say Neversummer would be the easiest place to raid. On a side note, why does it matter? I've only seen one person ever involved in a relic raid in The Circle.
As the others said, a double-edged swords. Isolated factions are better off for defenders, while not-so isolated factions can reach out to other factions easier for a better offensive. TC now has better dragon access, try raiding your archenemy MA or something.

raiding difficulty imo (based on time to get to on avg and entrance points)
easiest
1 - LA
2 - AO
3 - TC
4 - SL
5 - MA
6 - NC
7 - RK
hardest
this makes the higher ranked factions easiest to get a relic, but hardest to keep since mostly everyone can get there quickly...rating isnt based on player base
thus, TC is rather easy to raid...due to the close proximity of Beryn, but no easier than LA or AO. It is due to LA and AOs players that make those harder to raid. With the new jobs and addition to rogue, though, TC -can- be quite the powerhouse...if the players can take advantage of it

Psycho Banny and all his forms

I've tried raiding Circle a couple of times now. Each time I was able to get to the cradle room without a single encounter on the way. I didnt have to get near any creature in Melencia, and was on the Melencia map for only a few seconds total time. There's no need to go in invisible to avoid battles, since no Melencia guards were ever near me. The only fight was in the cradle room itself. (I havent seen the changes to the cradle room yet).
Compare this to AO and LA:
Taking the ferry into AO puts you one map away from the cradle, but you have to exit the main gates, past a dragon with true seeing, to get out. It's almost impossible to avoid some Sleeth guards because many have true seeing. Total time to get the relic and return is longer than TC because of the larger maps you need to traverse and the map with the dragon.
LA is easy to get to, but you do have to go through multiple city maps to get to the relic cradle. Also, the LA relic cradle map is fairly large and usually well populated with guards. It's fairly easy to avoid guards when you're invisible, but their positions around transition points makes it tricky. LA has multiple exits from the city, but Melencia has more exits. Total time to get to the relic and return is longer because the maps are larger and there are more to go through.

Can someone please try to very nicely explain the double-edged sword, relating to the distances you travel for relic cradles? He doesn't seem to get it.
As far as getting there without any encounters, try the following:
1) Make character with AC > 40.
2) Run past enemies on outlying map.

But, it's such a draining job that, until you've DMed on an NWN server yourself, you the playerbase, have got to cut the DMs some slack. - Flailer
