New friends in town
As some of you noticed there some new npc unique to each faction a couple things:
They do not always spawn in the cradle area you may go days without seeing them then on every spawn.
If you touch an enemy relic one of them may or may not come to your aid (very very small chance)
There may be rare opportunities to hire yours to assist, it wont be cheap but well worth it should the opportunity arise.
They are designed to assist the cities since things have grown but kept in specific area, raiding a city not for relics is always good ol fun and since these guards are much stronger they are kept in places as not to interfere with mid-level people who want to get some gear.
As always this is subject to change, its made to enhance gameplay not take away from it so lets see how it goes for a little while.

Indeed, in the past few days it has enhanced gameplay much so. Raiding with NPCs was always fun, now its up to the next level with NPCs actually being a player.
One thing I'm worried about though is that "a random amount of defenders must be defeated before a relic can be taken from its cradle." Now, I've raided and I've defended and it would be nice to have some defense for people when raiding you relic cradle but those NPCs are tough. Heck, Sandy was defending and killed the PCs but needed Gary's help to take down the NPC Coalition Enforcer.
If we're required to take down a certain amount of city guards of such strength, I believe it takes a chunk of PCs out of the relic game.

The fun thing about the relic games is that anyone can get involved, I remember AO once took a low level for relic transport. When RK first got all 7 we had Mr. O' Dearly's level 7 stay on watch in tunnels (pre-Pech Caves days).
These guys are rather strong, which is a nice change since it brings NPCs back into the game but absolutely having to defeat them can be hard for certain builds. That doesn't mean they're bad builds, it just means that its just not what they're built for.
Also, how did I know someone would post something that implied some people had crappy builds and it ended up being you?

This was absolutely the intention and a big reason for including the diviners. Low levels can track diviners down for intel while the higher levels give chase. I'm pretty sure that if you talk to a diviner when you are in a party all of the party members receive the message, so you can relay messages automatically.P. A lowbie with a divining rod would make a very useful teammate indeed.

Only seen the Ancient One's NPC once (Ancient Mercenary, IIRC), and it looked to be a half-orc with a double-bladed sword.
Ran into the LA defender, a high-level archer, while raiding after the reset yesterday. She had some pretty high AB, and was hitting for seemingly standard high-level bow damage (30-ish regular, 100 crits). However, I was also able to fire back at her with my archer, hitting her constantly as well. Though, she did have alot of HP.
Anyone have info on the other NPCs?

But, it's such a draining job that, until you've DMed on an NWN server yourself, you the playerbase, have got to cut the DMs some slack. - Flailer

Last Alliance Sharpshooter: These guys are fun, ranged NPCs that can pack a punch. Not a problem for someone with moderate-high AB due to them using a bow with no shield. They do great damage though.
Ragnar's Fist: It might be just me, but I think you got these guys' name from Gabriel (Fists of RK) who is also a monk that uses his fist, built before these guys came onto the scene. They're very rounded out monks, speed, decent damage with decent AC, and other monk abilities.
Coalition Enforcer: I've been informed that the one we fought had been buffed completely with clerical buffs, which explains his abnormal difficulty. Nevertheless, our pure monk was able to take him out once buffed. So taking the buffs off of both sides, they're still tough.
Legion Assassin: I didn't fight him personally, but I saw someone there for gear doing so. His name explains it, he was an Assassin. Considering the area hes in, it makes it dangerous with the Spider Queen, High Priestess, and the pee-ons with a new power-NPC in the Temple of Lloth.
Ascendancy Warlock: I have not seen nor fought him, merely saw the shout over the shout channel and thought I'd might as well mention him. If anyone has seen him it be nice to share him with us.
I haven't been to AO or TC yet (NC came to me), so I don't know about those two.
