Cheese builds VS. Exploit

Cheese builds VS. Exploit
Maybe somone in the "know" can clarify an issue that has reared its ugly head again, this time on reflections. One of the issues is with a Mage/SD.
People are getting angry because they cannot target it to kill it so therefore they come to the conclusion that this is an exploit. When in fact, it is a build, a cheesy one but a build nonetheless. The skill points were paid for at double the rate and now has a mage that can be dispelled by other high level mages. BTW this is not my mage. This all occurred during a relic raid(s) against MA from LA. I was partied with LA and I was killed repeatedly as were all members of the party at one point or another by this mage and by MA/IO Players 7-10 levels higher(than myself). I have to say I had fun even with the transport costs and being wasted continually. But there were a couple of others that did not feel that it was fun at all but cheesy and exploitive. I have to say in the Mages defense he did not hunt toons during all of this but defended. All of this escalated to insults which to me spake of poor gamemanship.
Everyone realizes that there are certain builds that are overpowering in certain cases. But all of these builds have weaknesses, you just have to find them and "exploit" them. I feel that anyone that has to resort to insults and profanity should step back for a bit and take a deep breath and try to remember that this is a game. Yeah we all get worked up from time to time but we cannot lose sight of the fact that this is not real life. Most of us play this as a release from real life boundaries. A way to let the real life batteries recharge so we can deal with the issues that truly matter like family, work and relationships with loved ones.
So...in the immortal words of Bart Simpson "Don't have a cow, Man".

a hipsing mage is rather easy to deal with, aoe spells are your answer.
for a cleric SOV and sunbeam, is what i have found best since the changes.
a mage has many options here. just target the general area, while hipsing your not that fast, and can rarely avoid a well placed spell.
however on topic i couldnt agree more, if you find yourself getting upset or angry enough to cuss swear or otherwise insult other players it may be time for a break.

first of all..find a paragraph format and try to use it occasionally.
second....tell them to put some points into listen or spot. being a mage they won't be able to put alot into dex in order to max out their ability, which means they will be very easy to spot compared to other SD builds. besides, mages aren't a cure all answer anyway, a high lvl cleric doesn't even have to worry about a multi classed mage anyway.

I got some PMs and screenshots of the incident mentioned here, the following was my reply " " (read no reply).
Folks this isnt anything new, and if you fail to build to deal with the aspects of the game then them blame is on your head, not on someone else cheesing it and "exploiting". If its an exploit we'll deal with it, if its something that needs to get fixed in design that WE do have control over we will.
There isnt anything to be fixed here .
nuff said, game on.

that and a good pvper doesn't stack lots of spells/abilities on there action que anyways since something can happen to cause u to need to do something else in a blink of an eye.
and like amo said.... a good cleric ( sr 52) pwns a cheese mage (30 lvlz). and with all the AOE spamming a cleric can do its rediculess.

Indeed. The wizard/SD build gets owned by several other builds. As mentioned before, it is not an exploit, but rather a build. Is it cheese? Who cares? There are plenty of "cheese" builds that could be brought up and mentioned but this is a game and I don't think people are going to create non-cheese builds just so they can save face with people who do not like them. People praise when such a toon is on their side, but condemn it when it is against them. I remember many times having a high lvl toon only to get owned by Fatz, Havok, Apok, or any other number of famous toon builders. I also remember taking it on the chin and wondering how I might survive next time. I am still working on that part.
Power is not given. It is taken.

Ya ya ya I know... stop whining, complaining, and learn to build better.

ehehehe, i must say, that cheese mage you are talking about wasnt very effective to begin with , maybe he needs a few more levels
...everything can be countered in one way or another
and 'sadly' i missed out on most of this bickering yesterday when i logged off to go to church and cook dinner.....but i heard about it later in the evening from a few people...i would just like to say - keep the drama off of reflections
ns-main has already been tainted, let us keep our reflection server pure if at all possible.....try your best not to take anything serious, after all it is just a game.

Yeah it's been nice and quiet on Main ever since Reflections opened up.. It seems as though all the "Taint" moved on once they had somwhere else to go. I am surprised it took this long for it to surface again.

Don't worry, you may see the 'taint' come back to Main...MLoki wrote:kingfatzo wrote:ns-main has already been tainted, let us keep our reflection server pure if at all possible.....

As for the cheese builds -- for me, tweaking a build to max is half the fun, actually building it and playing it in game is the other half. It's a shame I missed the cheese mage fiasco since HiPSters are no problem for my toons (remember sin and j'ain prewipe kromix?). I came in after and got the relics back -- the CHEESE I ran into was constant timestop use by one particular mage, which just made her the primary target. I think during MA's entire relic defense, she spent at least 20, possibly 30 crystals.
