Can someone tell me how the stonehold DC is calculated?

I encountered another player's DC at a number which is impossible to reach if it follows the normal (10 + spell focuses + modifier). Or is there another element to this DC that I am forgetting?

Keep in mind that 40 or so is achievable, just takes a lot of primary casting stat boosting to get to. And yes, I too would be interested to see what this DC was.

a wild elf pure druid with maxed out wisdom (fairly common for budding dragonshapes) will have a DC of 29 at level 16.
add in gsf: conjuration (even dragonshapes often take Dragon Knight, and casting druids definitely do, so this isn't silly) and you have DC33. and that's just at level 16.

pre-epic, owls insight gives casting druids DCs even wiz/sorcs can barely dream of.

What it was is not important except that I know it is not possible unless the spell is altered

, and yes I realize 40 is easily achivable. I was just wondering if someone could enlighten me on the other variable(s).

base stat20 +10 pumped +10great feat +12 magical +4 book = 56 (23mod)

23 Mod
10 spell base DC
6 spell lvl
6 epic focus

= somewhere around 45 should be the highest you can get on this spell

Can we get someone offical to look into this?
ALso note that it ignores spellcraft saving throw bonus

45DC is the max spell DC, only level 9 spells can reach that DC.

50 Wis = 20DC
SP LVL 9 = 9DC
SP Focus = 6 DC
Base DC = 10DC
Total = 45DC

Any higher would require "divine" intervention.

Keep in mind that Druids have access to the Owl's Insight Spell which gives a bonus of +1 Wis / 2 caster levels. At level 11 this provides +5 wisdom, which I am sure allows one to have a maxed out bonus to Wisdom (+2 from gear, +5 from insight, +5 from a friend or potion). A maxed out bonus to wisdom would yield a spell DC bonus of 6.

32wisdom + 6splvl + 4focus + 10base = 31DC

31DC on a Will Save spell at level 11 will rape nearly any pure class warrior, except maybe a paladin.

Multiclass a bit, then you don't have to worry about spells that use a DC to work or not.

Stonehold is a sweet spell, it's like a screen that filters out n00bz.

Ok my 40th level Druid with an unbuffed Wisdom of 38 (+14) and Epic Skill Focus: Conjuration (+6) casts Stonehold (10+6) with a DC of 36. (tested)

With Owls Insight I can boost my Wisdom to a 44 (+17). If I had taken all of the Great Wisdom feats and used a +4 book (on top of the +2 book I have already used) I would get a maximum increase of +9 to this DC.

Max DC of 45 for stonehold which is what Bishop 99 predicted.

Of course you would loose out on almost all other Epic Feats and with Stonehold being so easy to resist with Freedom and so many other immunities it really isn't worth boosting stats up just for that.

Tomes: give permanent ability boosts of +2 and +4. I heard there are even +6 ones. But never seen one. Maybe a NS legend
