late twenties, early thirties hunting grounds?

Post by sldsmkd »

hi all,

just looking for some suggestions on where to grind some exp, i often play solo because cant focus on playing in a group (distractions or nobody out).

i'm a plate tank (paladin / cot), level 28 currently. atm i tend to stick to efreets / ice giants although they aren't great exp (im also aasimar).

i did try the amazons last level, but killed about four or five before one of the lanceresses got a couple of good crits in a row just as my divine shield dropped and went splat. the undead in frostdale are okay, but the top level is either crazy heaving or has very few monsters in it, and the lower levels cant keep up with the damage output (harms i think?). I do actually have decent damage against undead with holy weapon and all the divine damage, but still suffer a lack of crits.

any suggestions? maybe try and get some piercing gear and try zones again?

cheers

Zons and planar. Get a party, this isn't balanced for solo play--a party makes it much easier.

if you can get your ac up and have freedom and pierce resist gear, zons is very good - should be able to solo if you're careful not to get mobbed. bind in one of the nearby outposts

Assuming your a strength build, get yourself some all slashing armor. Then carry 3 shields, one for each damage type.

Go back to amazons, when confronting a lanceress switch to all pierce shield. Concentrate on killing the lanceress's first, and you will also need some type of mind immune spell to keep the druid's stonehold off of you. ie: clarity, mindblank

Be prepared to heal with potion or spell often when you get critted by lanceress.

You can do it. Try again. Amazons is a great place to adventure solo.

Yeah, what I meant, but minielvis gave a much more cogent summary. Zons is great if you can handle lancer damage (i.e. a couple of 100+ shots in a row) and the stonehold of the ritualists.

Will give it another go, think was just unlucky / badly geared for it last time. I'm Aasimar so immune to mind spells, and have 400+ hps. Actually, got a group doing dwarven plane yesterday - and noticed that they were doing a *lot* less damage than when i'd been there at 26, even tho my gear and feats hadn't changed all that much...

It's possible that the Aasimar bonus improves in that range. I'm never done a human subrace, so I don't know.

Autofaint aka if you roll an one, thus failing without any hope, isnt activated on NS4, braindead again ;).
