Using heal pots in PvP
Using heal pots in PvP
A couple of times now i have had problems with people saying its is a copout using potions of heal in PvP. Well to this i say why if you cant fight back or win why should you just stand there and die and let them think they are so good and take your hard earned area. Because to me its no longer PvP when you cant fight back it is just someone else having fun at your expence.
And no i am not whinging i am stating a fact.
Just wondering everyones opinion.

i dont heal unless other player does. when ns4 first went open beta. you never healed in a pvp battle. i think thats were that comes from.
but hey its a pvp world and there arent rules against healing. i would rather see players heal then logg out.. shout and whine,
to each is own

the biggest thing in healing in pvp is people don't think its cool for a pm for example ( not picking on anyone ) to be able to chug heal pots.
now this gets intresting when u have a class like cleric or druid where healing is now a spell. a tank gets massive ab nice hp but lacks buffs.
a cleric/druid has heals and buffs but lacks (generally) in the ab dept.
summoners have crazy summons when done right.
to ask a class to not use there ability ie cleric heal, pm there summon is redundant.
that's like asking a wm not to use there weapon of choice.

I think the point is that chugging heal pots repeatedly until one of you runs out proves nothing about your skill or your build, it just proves you have more money. it's also not a problem specific to defensive builds like PMs, pretty much any character can survive by drinking a Heal every other round.
OTOH spell based healing is different, that's part of your build, and you sacrifice offensive spells, and you need concentration, etc. etc.
One of the -Slaves- rules of engagement puts it quite nicely.
Meanwhile I'm not sure what you mean by standing there and dying because you can't fight back. why can't you fight back? why can't you run away and ambush them in a few minutes? How exactly did you 'earn' that area?

if you have to rely on heal pots to win a fight, then you deserve to die
spells are a different matter and have been discused ad-nausiam on another thread, so lets not beat a dead horse...
regardless , what it comes down to is people can do whatever they want...personally i enjoy when i am beating down on someone and they chucg down over a dozen full heal pots --what a waste of money /and/or crafting xp !!!!!

In a recent case, a HIPSer taking advantage of lag to attack and vanish before my character can attack him--even when I have the attack cursor placed directly above his location so that all I have to do is click once as soon as he appears.I'm not sure what you mean by standing there and dying because you can't fight back. why can't you fight back?
Nothing to do but heal or run unless you're a caster that also has excellent Spot.

I always think its funny when someone gets on shout sayin xxx was healing while we were fighting. Play how you want, want to chug away do it you will be loosing gold especially if you buy the good stuff it can add up quick, if you don’t want to heal don’t easy as that. If its someone else you can take pride in knowing you are making their purse lighter with every round they chug a 10k gold piece potion or if you think its “cheap” or “cheating” then just run away, take you lumps, or join in the chugging contest.
This is a violent world so there is only 1 rule of engagement Win!
(well 2 rules, rule 2 obey all server rules)
Oh and little side note, it is just as funny when people also shout how they killed 3 people but I saw them drink a million in potions... If you want bragging rights well that is a whole different set of rules (engagement rules not server rules you lawyers

Really? Well, I could understand just sayin "no pots" at beginning buty no need to go into details. Besides, that would be just stupid tryin' to outlaw Lay on Hands, Cure <blank> Wounds, etc. Its part of that class, pots are not for they are just items.PeregrineV wrote:In a duel, healing (by spell, potion, skill or special ability) should be agreed upon ahead of time.

Here is one I'll respond to: I do not heal in batlle unless I see you healing{Spells, healkits, potions, etc..} first, then I may decide to heal If I choose too. I personnaly did heal as a pm to prove a point that I was surrounded by 5 pkers and they chose to heal. You may freely ask any old schooler here and the response would be I do not heal in a pvp dispute. My feeling is if you have to heal in a pvp then, 1 your build is not up to snuff, 2 I dont like marathon fights, 3 waste of money and heal pots.
