Evolving Neversummer
Evolving Neversummer
I wanted to start a thread about the continual evolution of NS.
i.e. all the changes to the spells , scripting and so forth.
What is the change that you most agree with , disagree with , and why?
I will chime in later.

ok on the PM, guys just give it a rest, i mean really - if someone is willing to expend the time and sit there and lvl a boring pm too 40 then congratulations . BTW no i dont have 1 .
I will say the one thing i really dislike about this server is that the whingers and criers get things changed, a PM is not immune to being deafeted. Yes its hard but so what. Clerics are still rocking, mages and sorcerers hold there own and heck go talk to the high number of ppl that have been slave whipped by a rogue/sd slave, the best of which in my opinion is elesaar i think the slave with 21 ranger lvls the class everyone said is the suckiest on this server ???
All things have str and weakness let it go, expend your energy on finding a build and there are a couple that can hurt a pm instead of crying like a baby for the nerf gun or we all really will be running around with +2 sticks.
other than this nerf that nerf this issue some of the spell durations on this server suck simple as that, they need a little bit of fine tuning the circle vs alignment rarely last till the end of a buff sequence for a start.
but this 2 issues are not massive for the vast majority the server is rocking, the dm's are spunky and the dev's well there awesome and ill add metis to that the best map in the whole game full stop is the mezzo one , sorry for anyone toes i step on
if this keeps up i cant see much point in forking out for a new machine and a new version of NW to play on 5 :_) il be here for years to come !!

The whiners do have much less power than you think, Grumpy. The Devs are aware of the changes they need to make, as they play too. I don't think they give whiners much credit. Most of them don't even have good arguments. Some changes will certainly sometimes be made after their chiming, but it's more a coincidence.
Sometimes, though, if many players feel uncomfortable about an issue, this might change.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. NS is constantly changing. Sometimes for the better sometimes not. But it's one of the reasons why it has me charmed.

One thing that hasnt been mentioned here, there are times when a change is made and the community felt it didnt enhance their game play so it was removed, perfect example are the wolves in FD almost everyone agreed they wanted them back at cr16 so it was done.
A lot of new things are looked at some implemented some scrapped but changes are not made if 1 person doesnt like something and when you do see something new/chaned you can bet we discussed and tested it before putting it in and the reason something is changed is motivated by the fact we think it will make the game more fun for everyone.
//ok cr15

I don't understand why familiars are disabled, but I'm sure they are for a good reason. I like the fact that the summons system has been customized to improve it to help compensate for this.
I like how the spell focus schools help certain spells aside from just the DC modifier. It makes sense that if you have a focus, greater, and then epic, those focused spells get better.
I like the job quests, and how they provide something useful for your faction.
I like the concept of the faction system. I don't like how is subsumes the alignment system. But you can't have both and the human players can make thier own decisions regarding alignment.
I like the fluidity in the development, with the addition of new content as well as balancing and correction issues of existing clucnky Bioware coding (see Blass/Aid/Battletide/Holy Aura and Bard Song/Curse for examples).
Change I most diasgree with? Nothing I disagree with, really. I do find the gear system easy to understand but annoyingly predictable. That's why any new gear is good gear.

One issue i have recently encountered, not that a change needs to take place, but if a dev or dm would do alittle testing and look into it i think they would share my thoughts.
The issue is Belkers. A mob on the air plane. Everything up there is well balanced and set up to work well together against a player or party, which is awsome. However after encountering belkers i have relized they are way tougher than i think even the Devs know.
They are hipsing with sneak attack, not a big deal for a planar mob, but they are immune to harm, death effects, and implosion. They have a higher than average SR. I thought that maybe since they were immune to death effects that heal would act like it does to undead on them......after i healed one it killed me lmao. Badly wounded to uninjured. Word of adivce, dont heal things that can kill you lol.
Anyway since they are one of the lower Cr's on the Air plane and seem to be the tougest against caster and fighters alike, i thought maybe alittle DM dev testing is in order. If one of you DM's or Devs want to party up to check it out look for FoN Jean i am camped up there probley until 35 or so.

I most agree with the items system in NS4.
Level advancing gear, and any item can be worn by any class.
(in most cases)
I most disagree with Hands being no longer SR.
It kind of nerfed pure Monks imo, although epic skill focus's will help counter hands. It is just that the huge SR making hands go poof, was nice.
