Familiars
So any idea when familiars are making a come back. I'm a druid so it's kinda important. I'm also new so I was wondering if awaken, magic fang, etc affects summoned creatures.
Probably not for a long time, and no. Lack of an animal companion is one of my personal gripes, as well.

druids frankly rock pre-epic. as DD1 says, Emp for victory up to level 10. you get Call Lightning, which is by far the best direct damage spell around up to level 10 and even to 15, and then at 13ish you get Stonehold which rocks the world pretty much up to 20 (and further if you go nuts on wisdom, my casting druid had 25% chance per round to SH lanceresses at 24). Then take DK at 21 or 24 to continue the stonehold assisted smiting.
Casting druids are the way to go really, druids have good defensive buffs but lack the AB buffs clerics have, and with Owls Insight you'll have godlike DCs for your level.
They start running out of steam around 30ish though - most of their spells are save based (no cheesy Isaacs for the tree huggers), so once epic save bonus starts kicking in your damage output will spectacularly stall. oh, and while amazons aren't paralysis immune, every planar creature under the sun is.

Throw 5 or 6 Monk in there for AC and speed (1 extra level for more speed shouldn't hurt).Binkyuk wrote:Casting druids are the way to go really, druids have good defensive buffs but lack the AB buffs clerics have, and with Owls Insight you'll have godlike DCs for your level.

Yeah i was actually going for Dragonshape, but yes a druid/monk[/sd] is quite a nice build. main problem was that the elemental shapes, shapechange: golem and shapechange: dragon are all stock, and hence have no bonus damage, but for casting it rocked. also you have godlike ac, discipline, and with 6 monk levels you get IKD which while shapechange: dragoned and with monk attack progression was quite sick.P.
