Try pure druid.

Elemental shape will own sneak attacks.

all the elemental shapes will do good in planes.

Plus with the hamper movement spells they have u should be able to take a few at a time.

Mabey mostly druid with a splash of monk .

RDD is the schnizzle for Fire Plane... immunity to the elemental subtype, high AC, and a primary focus in melee means they're basically immune to the threats there, as well as being plenty good on all the other planes with some good resistance gear.

Shifter is surprisingly good for the Plane of Shadow: undead form is immune to sneaks and negative damage, and several forms have True Sight to avoid being smacked around by the Shadar-Kai. Dragonshape Druids are also pretty good, as are any PCs with a Cleric, of course :)

For the Plane of Water, I've seen Barbarians do surprisingly well... the AoE damage is basic physical, so the inate DR zeroes out the need for helms or air bladers to a certain extent, and the high damage output without the need to resort to crits or sneaks is quite helpful versus the elemental critters (true to some level for all planes); the fact that Barbarians are a big part of The Circle and have something of an in to the shortcut portal in the council hall is always a boon, as well.

And of course, Clerics and Palemasters are good everywhere because, well, they're Clerics and Palemasters... but let's see someone wreck house with a Barbar or a Shifty McShifter for a bit and you might find a little divine blessing fritters down from the skies while you're at it

Actually, I was soloing with a Bard/SD before the wipe. I was 26th level Bard and 10 levels of Shadowdancer (yes 10 so I could get Epic Dodge) and was soloing Dwarves with no problem. That was before the bard song change however. I wasn't doing as well after the change to bard song and I actually had to use HiPS quite a bit. I haven't rebuilt the character yet to find out if it's still feasable or not.

There are a few changes going in to water and a few other planes to make them not quite so impossible. After these go in we will need some more testing and feedback to tweak them some more.

If you see me on Im usually testing out one of the planes solo or with a small group so if your able to venture there gimmie a buzz to help.

i took my super wiz up to shadow plane...didn't notice there were less mobs. also the new changes to bigby means they are mostlly immune to everyone one of them. they spawn in groups so igms is out. massive reflex saves + evasion means they don't take damage from reflex save spells. immune to horrids....needless to say i ran alot and only managed to kill 1 minor shadow demon before i ran for my life and left the plane. that good feedback?

My goal isn't necessarily to make the mobs easy enough that they're soloable (without some stra-tegery at least). The benchmark should probably be: are they doable by a group of 2-4 level 26-33 chars?

If they're easy enough to solo, what fun is it taking a group there?

ok..so a lvl 28 wiz can only kill 1 monster before dying a horrible death. i'll have to try another build there.

well I think the plains should be damn near un soloable.

I think there is a great lack of hard areas.

...even if a character can solo the planes, it is almost not worth the time tha thte individual spends doing so , that and it is boring as heck.

the current balance seems to be working nicley :)

had a group of 4 in the shadow planes. got mobbed by about 15 creatures from no where. there are still lots and lots of creatures around. we didn't have any success killing anything, except a lucky implosion i got off that killed a single mastiff(it rolled a 1).

the renders were doing 70-90 pts damage consistent. ie they didn't miss very much. on a crit it was closer to 150..and they crit alot. everything else was doing 30-70 damage a hit. considering almost everything there is assassin/rogue it wasn't pretty trying to run from them, as they were getting attacks of opprotunity from 7 steps away.

is this good enough feed back on what shadow is like and why its so impossible? lvls were 26-30....3 clerics and a dexer. funny that the dexer lasted longest toe to toe and i spent alot of time running for my life and rezzing.
if i didn't do it...someone else would have.
