What determines worship?
Is it the deity field in character creation, or strictly faction based?

So, supposing a character who's a follower of Ilmater. Technically, Ilmater is NC aligned (since Tyr and Torm, the other members of The Triad, are NC)...and I think I remember the NS deities spreadsheet listed Ilmater as NC. Now I have to go and dig it up...

Would it be a mistake for this character to pray to or ask aid of any of those three? Would my poor healer-cleric of Ilmater get bumrushed by long dead warriors if he asked Torm for help?

praying to a god of your faction is close to praying to your own god. as the mortals have chosen factions lines...so have the gods. the triad is an especiallly good one as you could worship one and recieve help from all 3 as they are all friends.

I pray to anyone of a compatible viewpoint or alignment, although primarily Mielikki.

Lathander, for example, is "good" in alignment, and he hates undead, and is the sun god, so my TC undead hunter (fighter/cleric with Sun domain) gets on with him just fine.
