Lag

Post by CrazyJ »

The game has been extremely laggy today.... periods of normal play followed by pauses of up to 20 seconds; everything then happens very quickly, then normal for a bit, then pause. It's nearly unplayable right now, at least if you're fighting enemies tough enough that you have to heal frequently... when the lag pause passes, everything happens at once. boom.

I really don't see any point in logging on until this is fixed.

In case it's helpful: Not everything is normal for a bit. Access to item information and inventory was always delayed when I tried it.

Oddly enough though I can access shops at a good rate today. That's about the only thing up to speed, as I lost at least a level's worth of XP to getting killed in lag-bursts.

You would be referring to our most recent deaths, where you joined the battle, the game paused, and then you were dead? :)

grrr

I've noticed that joining the server gives me a 30-40% drop in framerate compared to single player, what's up with that?

Just a smart tip --- use your journal often -- especially if you have just :

xfered gear,
picked up a "nice" item,
purchaced / sold gear
leveled.
or if you are gaining xp rapidly in wolves for example;

i once lost 10k xp from a crash in wolves as well as xfered gear and gold.... ( about 30-45 minutes play time) so now i use that book as often as i can :P

Long lag spikes are nerve racking at times...often by the time you realize the server is going to crash it is too late, and you say to yourself:

" (explative) i didnt use my book ! "

Or just rest a lot.

I've found that even just opening your stats screen to check xp helps too for some reason.

That FPS issue I was talking about earlier only seemd to pop up with the new patch. Anyone else having issues?

I'd say to use the journal, you can't always rest due to monsters being close by.
Before you judge a man walk a mile in his shoes, after that who cares? he's a mile away and you have his shoes.

I have noticed this as well, and have also noticed that resting doesnt always save for me --- some crashes have caused what i would call "rollbacks" - usually rolling my character back to the last point where i logged on.
