PvP for dummies.....

Post by MasterYoda »

Ok well i have come to conclusions that there needs to be an in depth look at the over all PvP rules and being someone who has been yelled at for just about all of them i feel they should be put out there for everyone to see.

Section 1: PvP

PvP is a type of combat between people over the server. PvP can be for multiple reasons. U are near where someone is leveling, u are a different faction, race, guild, or planely the attacker doesnt plainly like u for whatever reason.

PvP should not be taken as in any way as the MAIN focous of this server, it isnt necessairy nor is it frowned upon. Now for all u noobies out there or just people just uncertain with the PvP rules here is a small guide about what is and what isnt allowed as far as PvP goes on this server.

**DISCLAIMER** This is a Guide. Not set in stone, but as of late people have been not too sure what is Leagle and what is not.

Section 2 : What is not allowed in PvP

1) Logging out of battle to avoid a pk is not allowed. If u are engaged in a PvP match and u panic dont worry. YOU DO NOT LOOSE XP FROM A PK. Just simply fight back as much as u can and if u die then u die then u respawn. While some of u do not wish to participate in pvp breaking rules is not the answer. There are ample areas for all levels of skill to level at and if u wish pm me in game and i will gladly share those spots with u. In the event of a crash ( a real one not u logging and comming back to say u crashed ) simply state over the DM channel that u crashed and procede to PvP unless the attacker left then u have gotten lucky. :P

2) Forced XP loss is not allowed. What this means is u are not allowed to porously make someone loose xp. I.E. Roud up every oger on MT trail and run them down to a group of people near the bottom. This is very uncool and is a BIG no no.

3) Continued Hunting. U are only allowed to kill someone 3 times in a 6 hour (Real Life) time period. Now this means u , not your guild or a friend but u your self. More than the 3 times by your self is considered harassment and can get u in loads of trouble. However u can get a friend to go and kill the person u have been hunting but it will count twards there PK count.

4) Spawn Camping is not allowed. Now there are some rules about this. I.E. u are raiding NS and decide u want to go kill Peppin. This is a spawn point for NS. If u see someone spawning in there then best rule of thumb is to leave the area or to simply leave them alone. Killing enemy faction bosses sometmes mean u fight inside a spawn point, it DOES NOT give u an excuse to relentlessly PK someone bound there.

5) Revenge Reloging. Ok this is Probbally the easiest Rule to follow. If u get attacked and lose ( a loss means u DID NOT CLEARLY WIN ) then u should not relog another toon for ANY type of revenge. No "he attacked me first but the battle record is wrong" or "i didnt mean to click on him" or anything. If u relog a char to Raise your fallen comerads u are not allowed to initiate combat. Thats it .... u can go else where with your relogged character or even just log off ( After u respawn ) and chill out for a while. Remember, a DM is only as good as u let them be. If u dont give them the chance to be the good guy then they will allways be the bad guy in your eyes.

6) Disarming. Totally allowed ..... please read the change log about disarm and how it has been customized for this server.

7) Protecting your city. U are allowed to relog any toon u wish as many times as u like as long as YOUR CITY is under attack, not your ally, or ur friend , or some goblins that are outside your city gates it has to be your city. u are NOT allowed to relog a higher toon to raid if u failed already. I.E. U got your arse whipped by an ewok, u cannot go get your higher toon to go raid Gargoth. But if u come back to Gargoth then they can however grab there highest character they have ( FROM GARGOTH ) to defend.

Remember this is not SET IIN STONE just some things i have seen others and my self get into trouble for and since there have been lots of questions regarding it i decided to help -try- to clairify this. PLease feel free to add to this. ( Or erase this if u DMs deem this something that is not necessairy )

Thanks

Yoda~~

For #1, you can log out whenever you want. If you log out to avoid dying, then it's the same as if you lost the fight, and you would be prohibited from revenge-logging, etc, but you still would be able to just log to avoid death in the first place.

That said, take it like a man and just die :)

Well its not very polite to log to avoid death. So if you log back with the same char within a few mins, you might find you self dead.

That being said, it is ok for you to log in another char and play that elsewhere if you dont want to paticipate in the pvp in the area you first played in.

yes if i am on and watching. and you are fighting, and you start loosing. so you logg out to avoid death wich makes no sense you loose nothing. you will find your self dead. i hate players that logg out as soon as they start losing.

Technically you do lose out though.
Time = XP.
Time spent defending yourself and/or running back to where you were levelling after being killed is time lost for killing mobs and getting xp.

Also, it is apparent that ppl logging out when they are going to lose a pvp does really annoy/p.o. the attacking players a good portion of the time.

Log out and tick those players off for wasting your time and costing you XP.
Take a break, go make a sandwich and checkout what's on the news.

If it's perfectly ok for the PK'rs to waste your time and cost you xp, then it's perfectly ok to log out to purposely tick them off and ruin their fun.

People shouldn't log in the middle of a fight. i get my organ kicked allmost everytime i get attacked, but at least i try to run away, not log.

I understand what you're saying Jester, but I'm still all against battle logging. Theres always those few last laws the we should never break. Its just common sense that you shouldn't log to avoid death in a PvP battle, or any battle for that matter.

i see nothing wrong with logging if someone wants to avoid a fight.. if your just standing there getting beat down by all means log. This isnt some childish contest its entertainment so if the player doesnt want to fight then let him log. Thats something i dont think alot of people relize, its a game and entertainment not a job or duty. Its fun so treat it that way. A player can log out anytime he or she wants and should NEVER i repeat NEVER be killed or messed with by a dm for doing it. That is the most rediculous thing i have ever heard.

there is a huge difference between someone logging because they are losing a fight, or trying to use it as a buffer (log for a sec and log right back in) and someone who is actively trying to avoid the fight.

If I can personnally see that a player never wanted in this fight and actively tried to leave, I will let them slide. Otherwise....
