Monks and feats

Post by Draco Nightspawn »

Recently lvl'ed my monk and took the feat "blinding speed". Much to my amazement it actually reduced my normal speed. Has this been 'nerfed as well? I know you cant haste a monk unless his speed is lower than a set amount, but blindin speed is a epic ability for a monk. Is there any way that this can tested?
My thanks

The description for the blinding speed feat is that it casts a haste spell on yourself, and this is exactly what it does. so with the NS implementation of Haste, at best you'd get no speed increase (though you should get an extra attack).

it's not just a monk epic feat, rogues and other agility based characters have it on their list too.

my guess is the double haste exploit fix is somehow not applied to blinding speed properly and it's setting your movement speed without checking it first.

even if this is fixed it won't improve your monk much, so if i were you i'd just delevel yourself and pick something else.

I was looking at this feat in planning my char levels. If I'm not a monk, and have no other class based speed bonuses, would this feat help? Does it put you in permanent haste(reflecting your blinding speed), or does it give you the ability to cast a "Haste"-like effect on yourself?

That stinks. I put a lot of dex into my monk too but have not gotten that feat yet. It took a lot of levels to get that much dex too.

I think the haste and expeditious retreat speed on monks got nuetered when they took the Messenger speed bonus away from monks as well. I noticed it with my monk shortly after they made that change. It only effects monks over a certain level because the speed increase from those spells is now restricted to base speed not including monk bonus.

with my level 24 rogue blinding speed is a haste spell (not true Haste) that lasts for 24 rounds, so i suspect 1r/character lvl (not the 10 rounds the feat description states). it does give him bonus speed, an extra attack, dodge ac... all the works you get from one haste spell cast at character level, no more, no less.

I know rogues can use the blinding speed, I have another toon that uses it well. Its just that with my monk it actually decreases my speed. My monk is currently 15th lvl monk/ 6th lvl fighter/ 5th lvl SD, run spd is 145%(15th lvl monk). When I tryed the feat blinding speed it slowed him down a notch or 2, yet on my trainer it didnt.

My querry is : Is this going to stay as is or is blinding speed going to be allowed for monk builds?

Personally I think they might have nerfed it because if you are a monk in Last Alliance it becomes a cheese build where you use your messenger token, which increases your speed to 50%, then blinding speed, and normal monk speed....you will be too fast and no one on this server will be able to catch you. Of course my question is...you are a monk, why get more speed?

Ouch ! always bashing the LA .. lol... I like my fast monk the way he is :) i know the SL likes him too when he runs circles around them in the temple of Lloth while raiding the thier cradel.... the solution to stopping a fast monk is nothing more than a good mage and a bigby :D ... every faction has its up's and down's, let's not short change the LA any more than we already are ( ex ) our guards... whoops i changed the topic!
