drow changes
nice job guys...i have 1 or 2 drow and i like the idea of bright lights blinding them. i just have one thing to ask though. can firestorm be taken off this list? if its a spell that you cast...how effective is it when you blind and daze yourself from casting a spell? it can't be aimed at anything and is cast from you....so....that basically means that your screwing yourself over everytime you try it.

I agree fully, if a spell is targeted on the caster then it shoulndt effect the caster. I dont disgree with firestorm blinding drow but if it is to be left like this then change the spell so it is ranged. There is no reason a spell should effect its caster unless the caster intends it to. I dont think a clerics god intended to harm his subject when granting him divine spells each day. That is like little green hands flying back at the mage that cast them, although slightly humoris, it has no place in the game.

well think obout it like casting ice storm... arround your friendsthe spell dont give a pie...
It was Fozzie, ya goof =P
As for the subject at hand, i believe that they should eith be A) affected by their own spells or B) lose DC for not being able to see because they closed their eyes.
Lets face it, for all the griping everone does about how hard drow are to level, there are ALOT of them on this server. with the addition of the new SR system, i think these arent unreasonable as a balance.

ok...did anyone see where i said i liked this change? seriously...does anyone ever read a post?
a drow casting firestorm and blinding himself is like a mage casting meteor storm and it killing him...i don't think anyone wants that to happen. i do think that blinding flashes of light are awesome for disabling drow. i just think if a drow is going to cast firestorm then...why would he anyway..why not have SoV stun the cleric that casts it?
and casting light on a drow doesn't do anything.

For the record, spells shouldn't be affecting the caster (for the reason that was mentioned - closing their eyes or something). I must have put the call inside the bracket instead of outside.
Next step is giving a penalty on transition from dark to light areas. A little more involved, but doable.

ok...the only cleric casted spell that hurts the caster is flamestrike...be wary it will mess you up if its close range. firestorm and sunbeam don't do anything even when casted on your own feet. looks good....since i found a way to make myself immune to all effects to this new change...can i keep it my own little secret?

ok, and what about humans and other races from a surface? So drows will go on the surface and will be blind? And vice versa the ppl from the surface must be blind in Menzo. The Underdark is very dark place.Flailer wrote:For the record, spells shouldn't be affecting the caster (for the reason that was mentioned - closing their eyes or something). Wanna do something good? Remove HIPS from 1 lvl of SD and move it on 6 lvl of SD. I was wondering to be same like all ppl from this server. But no.
Meteor swarm - how can u cast this spell in a cave or in a house? Heh. Can u do something with this spell?
So other clerics can cast Fire storm and drow's cleric cann't? Hm, can drows get something? I don't know but is alwas same. I do something but u should do something to balance it.
left NS4 for a few months or maybe forever
