I am surprised that when carrying a relic, I receive no penalty whatsoever to any of the means to evade some classes.

For instance it should trash hide skill, and movement speed boosts. Right now a normal unhasted character can't even catch monk relic runner. Also HIPSing relic runner will be incredibly hard to catch.

This heavily penalises classes without high spot and speed boosts when trying to defend their relic.

Speed boosts are generally a problem on this server as mage can defeat any melee by just hasting then running to a distance enough for safe cast and cast something then rinse and repeat. Even vs mage running in circles melee without haste can barely get any hits in. Unless you are LA with token or cleric melee with haste.

Looks like balance issue to me.

You actually receive a huge penalty to Hide and Move Silently when you pick up a flag. I think its something like -40 or -50.

There's already a massive Hide/MS penalty in place when carrying a relic. Picking up a relic also wipes out any buffs that are currently in place.

-50 to hide/MS which is erased when rested or after a short period...like a couple of minutes. debuffs you when you pick it up, so your best bet there is try to be in the room before they rest to pick up the relic.

Yea that is what I was thinking. I know I got penalty to hide and MS but hell, it was gone quickly.

What about speed boosts? How do they expect anyone nonhasted to defend against hasted chars?

haste potions can be crafted and dropped, there are staffs with haste thet drop and exped retreat that can be crafted for the UMD...

Or you can just do it the easy way and use an LA monk with the speed bonus.

Well he made a point I am trying to make. This is balance issue as not all classes can even pursuit hasted relic runner. For instance TC has bunch of classes without haste(maybe cleric if he doesn't have to take both those domains). I think that while carrying relic speed should be dropped to normal speed.

Make the relic runner move at normal speed and you will see the power factions (ones like SL that seem to always have 2-4 high lev defenders on at any given time) hang on to the relics even longer than they are doing now...imagine 2-4 high lev hasted defenders vs a slow solo raider...

Allowing toons to carry relics while hasted or with monk speed helps us solo relic raiders a bit against those power factions...

If I were you: stock up on haste potions...

With the great differences in allowed classes & such, the key is for each faction to use their strength to get the job done. For the NC, who have no mages, Monks and Clerics are a necessity in grabbing Relics. For AO, which is sololy allowed RDD's, the key is to have someone slow down the Relic runner while a few of the others lay into him. Each faction has to come up with a strategy that works for their faction & every faction should be prepared for these strategies with some heavy countermeasures of their own.
