summons revised

Post by Death Dealer1 »

couple of questions on the summon updates...does necro focus add to mummy dust? it is an undead so i was just wondering. another thing....the summon shadow i have has epic feats at lvl 15(the summon, not me) he is epic focus and specialized in greatsword and longsword..he has no weapons. the documentation says summons have weapons and such...just seeing if you guys knew this about shadows.

Nerco focus does indeed help mummy dust -> it's an undead.

Ignore the weapon focuses this is a side effect of the leveling up script. Your shadows are equipt with creature weapons as described in the guide, maxing at lvl 35

shadows, create undead, and create greater undead all end at lvl 15 summons with bare fisted tactics doing about 1-6pts + str bonus. i like the bonuses they get on paper for me being a necro mage though. wouldn't be any special things that could happen if a mage goes necro specialize...like the cleric death domain?

Try reading the guide eh.

Is says:
Undead summons receive a stat bonus when cast by a Cleric with the Death Domain Power feat.

uuhhh, yup...cleric with death....i asked about mage with necro specialize. is a different matter. specializing in necro and losing divination is a big cost, was wondering if that figured in also.

No - specializing in any school won't make any of the summon's lines stronger. The only benefit would be greater spells slots for more undead summons - but still not a good tradeoff for losing Divination casting ability imo.

noone pays attn to my post :/

Death domain clerics are supposed to get a Sumon that grows with the cleric's level... its a domain thing, like elemental turning for other domains.
this means death domain clerics only get enervation and phantasmal killer, only instead of the latter and the summon shadow as a domain power...
(besides the new added buffs to the summons)
this shadow is for some reason disabled and acts like a mage's familiar and does not cast... could it be reasonable to activate it or look into it? as a domain i believe it should be turned on...

thank you

Ah sorry death I obviously misread your post.

I don't think a tip of the hat to a necro mage would be too hard to muster the motivation for

Once agin like the gap between the first and second summon updates I'm going to leave a bit of time and then hit all of the points that have come up together.

I'll probably fit summons in again in about week or so.

no problem zing...the revised summons look pretty good so far. i only brought up the pure necro because believe it or not......i have one and she is a really good toon. it just occured to me that maybe we should think about something special for those mages that want to be a specialist...after all right now they don't recieve anything except spell slots and lost spells. maybe we could think of other things to get for specialists in other domains.

Yeah, Deathdealer has a point. It kinda gets old when almost every single mage in this server goes for the Illusion spell school because Enchantment sucks. And at the same time they specialize in Necro and have insanely good spells from that school, but their chosen school is Illusion... It would be nice to recieve some extra bonuses for going in special schools, so it would be worth it to lose spells from the school divination and such.

One thing that I noticed is that my summons was having attacks of opportunity made against it. I presume that this is because it was fighting without a weapon.

I'll have to check when I get home if that is still the case. But, if it is, then doesn't improved unarmed attack stop the attacks of opportunity for bare handed fighters?

I could just be remembering my revision 1 summons and not the newer revision 2.

no clue if this has been looked at, BUT i do know for a fact that ALL summons summoned during battle do not get the buffs...

is it supposed to be this way? because if your summon gets tanked out, then the only way you can summon up another one is to run away untill battle music stops, then summon again, or it will summon upa debuffed creature... this is for both, living, and undead summons, even planar... ;)
