buying and selling in NS4

Post by Death Dealer1 »

i know i'm not the only one that was disappointed by the currency changes. is there anything we could think about doing as far as making some of the stuff worth picking up again? its kind of sad that most of the stuff that drops isn't worth hauling back to town to sell anymore. even 50lb gold nuggets aren't worth keeping. anyway, anyone else think about this? i just got to thinking about this real hard the last few days going back and forth from garagoth to avendell......its a 20k gold ride one way and that is a hunk of change since most gear doesn't sell very good anymore.

why not exponentially crank up the prices for gear and such and put the price back on the items.. i remember walking encumbered with my mage carrying a sarcophagus and a few nuggets all the way from haddon mirk to avendell just to sell them items :D it was fun :D

but now i see a sarc and think... hmm that much weight for close to zip.... i'll leave it there...

By exponentially, is for example, lvl 1 helm 100, lvl 5 500, lvl 9 2500, lvl 13 12500. this way the gold will be used and for the muling... open up lvl 16+ shops in FD with the same pricing... and at same time make bosses with lvl 16 gear a wee bit harder, with a lower chance of a drop, that way people will be forced to buy lvl 16 basic gear and on...

just my 1/2 penny... I'm a cheap-o :D

Yeah, I agree that the treasure items should be made slightly more valuable (if not as valuable as they were in the past), have they weight on the nuggets and sarc and stuff lowered a lot, or have a lower percentage of dropping and replaced with more ammo, potions, disposable magic items, or the dye kits when they're added to drops. As it is now, they're totally worthless.

cuz when you ferry around the world alot it gets expensive..especially since you can't gain the gold to pay for the heavy travelling. i am sure that once the "other" areas come in it will be even more costly to travel to thru the shards...cuz thats what i would do sell tickets to the high lvl places.

Deathdealer has a good point, but traveling to
Frostdale only costs about 12.2k (from Falme I think) and its really easy to get 500k. I like money because it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside when I see the thousands upon tens and hundreds of thousand gold pieces on my character, I wonder how my halfling carrys so much gold pieces...

Thats only 79k, you still probably have about 500-600k left (or thats the amount left I would have). Besides, considering DD is MA, a lot of yous are mages and have haste so don't need ferries all that much if you don't mind a 5 minute run (Excluding lag of course, but ferries are worse during lag). Besides, sunken has tons of valuable drops and gp drops in all of the high levels are very high. You'll probably be making a profit going to Sunken/Frostdale and back (if you loot of course).

i don't think my super moving monk could make the trip from avendell to garagoth in 5 mins...let alone a hasted wiz. i don't loot for items because they are worthless for me to encumber myself for 30k gold and 5000lbs of crap. i only pick up what i want/need/gold.

It'd be awesome, and simple, if Mages could have the Leomunds "secret chest" spell they operates like a 100% bag of holding that they cannot drop and on spell duration expirey drops the items back in inventory (or on ground if no slots).

Agreed Death Dealer - prices for treasure and gems have been adjusted upwards.
