The fun of shifters??

Post by Donan »

I am pretty sure I am the only one with some serious lvl investments in a shifter but here is my rant (yes again).

So I haven’t played her for a while and figured I would mess around for a bit (10druid/14shifter). I run by the NS gates and see 3 “effortless” NS guards. Figuring I will pass the time I go to fight them. Once with Rakshasa and then undead lord (forgot name, the one with scythe). They just beat the &%$ out of me.

I guess there is no real point to this, I know everything becomes deflection so poor AC and if you want shifter that means no monk lvls. So… umm… done rant.

thats pretty much why i quit playing my lvl 20 (11 druid 9 shifter) shifter. went for the 11 druid so atleast i could have stonehold as a back up but everything is frostdale is immune to paralyze. no ac, no soaks, no resistance. only real cool thing is stacking of weapon damage across shifts. until a custom shifter script is implemented there really is no point of playing a shifter....all your going to do is die.

it doesn't help that the strength boosting items are gloves/bracers and those items never merge with shapes, so you'll be fighting at -5 str.

I put the relevant HoU ability scripts into the module a while ago as Joran didn't have it for the longest time. Been meaning to clean them out except for the few that have had something done to them (the wildshape and shifter scripts plus pc specific abilities are still at 1.61). From the 3.5 stuff I've done I know Bio hasn't improved things much at all, but there's been a fix or two that should help.

The sticking point is always NWN polymorph (all the engine bugs like clearing item effects at death), there's only so much that can be done besides fixing the exploits and crash bugs.

Edit: Ok, they've been yanked out, see if things are any better (though I doubt it).
