Hello... as those who are playing will know, I'm back to NS4, after playing WoW, Lineage2, KotoR2, and NWN on NS3.5 (East) where I made 6 lvl40s to practice building, I even tried out other NWN action servers... but I find that NS4 has the best concept, good lvlup pace and has amazing balance compared to all other servers... I also noticed that NS3 East & Pac are always very busy, but NS4 has a low-flow of people, also a LOT of people from all around the world are getting NWN and joining NS3... ALSO: From what i've read, NWN2 and/or Dragon Realm is gonna suck -- No day/night cycle? no turns/rounds? etc... the thing that makes nwn work so well is it's adaptation of the AD&D rulset, if you scrap the fundamentals, then much gameplay balance will be lost.

But anyhow... LETS REMOVE THE 'BETA' TAG FROM NS4 ASAP!?! Can you not pretty much copy & paste some code to put basically the same messenger job in all the cities with the same item as LA and be done with it? there are guards and outposts that could be used for the 2 messenger quests. Once you balance out the job problem, the server is ready for an official un-beta status isn't it -- once the server gets rid of the beta-tag, then people will flow in, and some DMs may migrate from ns3 to help out making random quests and get the story/plot arc underway?!

Although on NS3 the EC stuff is cool and challenging (but gets quite old once you have a full NS set on all your 40's), it's a shame to see so much development work being done to a MOD that technically was supposed to closed long ago, instead of putting the same effort into a MOD that has so many things done RIGHT.

Of the work that has been done on ns4 -- I'm REALLY happy with the layout and mobs/drops of Frostdale, but the wolves need to be tougher or more polar bears mixed in :). On the other hand - Sunken is dissapointing - I was hoping to see a much bigger zone than NS3, and there are some gameplay and technical issues that need work (ie: one major one is the need to limit the player viewing distance in BOTH zones - for reasons of SPEED for slower computers and to avoid ranged-attack exploits).

Please guys! Let's get this server to the top of the PW-Action list and keep it there!! Then maybe you will NEED to bring back the 'cluster' to handle the influx of players? :D

Just thought I'd post a reply to give a little feedback on what's in the works currently.

Things I'm working on (in between ducking and weaving from real life):

- A new area around the same level as Sunken and FD that should round out some nice drops that are currently missing for certain weapons/armor (ie, spears, slings, shortbows, etc).

- Beginning to work on getting some jobs built for the different factions. In some places, you can emulate the guard job in NS (it's always more work than you think...), but the same job in every faction wouldn't be that interesting would it? If folks have ideas for jobs in the factions, post them under the faction forum - should be something for job ideas there.

- Fix for the winter wolves/frozen reach areas should be in very soon. Your free XP days will soon be over. Oh admit it - you felt dirty doing it. :wink:

- Adding some AI enhancements which will either make things a bit more interesting or make all NPCs stand there like stumps. A surprisingingly fine line between those states...

Some other long term goals as well, but more on those as we get closer to them. Can't promise any timelines, but just wanted to let you know that something is being worked on every day.

hi,just wondering if the new area your talking about will have new kamas as well? and i was going to suggest something for city gaurds etc,sooner or later this server will be reachable for lvl 40,so wouldnt upping the gaurd cr and difficulty be advisable?for one it would give ppl a reason to attack citys other then just for fun.lately ive noticed not so many ppl attack citys as before,whereas defending and attacking citys is fun.

starting to see some elemental planes, outsider planes, other worldly planes, rift shards useable, bags of holding :wink: , new forms of creatures, xtra hard creatures, impossible civilizations, shifter scripts........i think you get the idea........pretty much any updates are awesome at this point. i'm just happy someone is finding a little time here and there to do something with this mod. i want to see it be completed before i'm banned by my wife for spending more time with you guys than her. :lol:

cool,would be nice if some new kamas would be added,specially for pure monks,but kamas in general would be a nice addition,bad enuff there slashing,but imbued only,that i know of ,kind of stinks.

IMO this should be the biggest focus for the moment. Oh sure, people want planar areas and stuff added so they can get their pkers to level 40. Personally, I think all the factions need to be fleshed out a bit more first. So far the jobs consist of three things:

1. Kill rats and low level stuff.
2. Run past a bunch of rats to deliver a message several times in a row.
3. Talk to city guards.

Number 1 applies to both LA and AO.

How much of this is a big letdown to people who join NS4 for the first time who are impressed by the opening only to join a faction like MA or NC that's out in the boonies with no clear objective except to level as high as they can go? I think the hardest part would be coming up with great scenarios.

At the highests levels, it would be good to see jobs that involve the conflict among the factions, since this is one of the biggest elements of the NS 4 storyline. High level characters regardless of faction would naturally be called upon to take greater part in this conflict.

I posted a bunch of ideas over in the NC forum for various quests and potential rewards. Let's see some brainstorming here everyone. I'm sure everyone has a favorite faction and maybe some ideas for a quest or two for the faction. Let's give the devs some ideas so they can start coding. :)

Ugh. And my wizard was having so much fun. :D A fix sounds like an ok idea though; the arctic wolves as they are now are pretty weak for the levels that hang out in the Forst Dale areas but the winter wolves with their rage, disarming and massive hps are a bit over the top (then again too, maybe not for the levels the area is actually intended for :twisted:). Maybe something in between for the Frozen Reach, with something a bit tougher in the Durrena Peaks (Shiv'las shouldn't be all that easy to get to.)

Well, I couldn't find the faction forums so I'll just post it here. In reply to possible jobs in different factions, I was thinking that the shadow legion should definitely have assasination jobs. Go kill certain members of other factions and such, bring back items to prove you completed the job, then you get rewarded. Since this faction is filled with assasins and rogue type characters, the reward should be bonuses to hide and move silently, and/or maybe + some odd sneak attack dmg, and/or +dmg vs. dwarves (down with stumpy). Definitely the +hide/move silently though.
So, is there a faction forum or not? if so, what is the link and I'll just post this there and any future ideas. Thanks.

There is a forums for each faction all the way at the bottom of the forums list. Also you might instead throw the ideas into the ideas and suggestions forum.

err sunken gives close to no xp at lvl 24, the fisherman are too hard for very low xp...


might want to check on that

sunken: yes, I found it tricky with a moderate lvl char, had to carefully lure one by one.

Level40: I saw a :DD: guy on the other day who was Level 39!

Failer: YAY! good news... I'm patiently waiting, and lvling up chars on the server in hopes of new content.

Faction Jobs: As for jobs, I'd say that even the same messenger job could be TOTALLY different in all factions even though it results in a similar thing. Perhaps a different stat boost, or skill increases, but the 50% speed boost is such a nice feature of the LA job that something similar should be everywhere -- to give more reasons for people to make characters in other factions other than the unique PRCs.
