Please dont refer to yourselves as the Brethren. That names belongs to another NS guild. They were here years before NS4 was opened, a little respect please.

Brethren amoust other guild may hold the same name as Guild that some may have ran into the past, face it NWN has a enormous amount of people playing it and hundredes of servers. But Any Guild that is made has a good chance of holding a name that may reflect or even be identical to another Guild is it showing disrepect? No, it dont, Ander amounst others is in the Brethren for NS4 still show the colors and run proud. And seeing other Guilds comeing to or forming is NS4 is exciting to me, means where comeing out of the slump that for soo long this server was in.
Guilds in NS4
There are many guilds that may copy tags that never run across one another. However in this case The Brethren were formed specifically in NS, which is different. A guild moves into a new server and it has a guild with the same name or tag, it is not the guild already in place who changes their tag.
I posted a comment about this guild and its tag specifically when it was formed over this very subject. I was assured then that this very thing would not happen. While guilds are not officially supported in NS, this is something that will be dealt with swiftly to keep it from blowing up.

I didn't create the guild myself. I just ended up taking it over after the founders left NS4. Right now, I'm somewhat divided on whether to rebuild the guild up again or to just start a new guild as a successor.
I found the thread announcing the creation of the guild here:
http://www.nsrealm.com/boards/viewtopic ... beafc5b6ef
Many members of the guild usually have "Brother" or "Sister" as a first name, but that's about all that we have in the way of a guild tag. Some of the characters also don't have tags since they were created before joining the guild. We use guild colors as more of an identifier anyway.
If there is a serious problem with this, then I may just create a new guild with a different name.

There isnt. The old guild is completely inactive/non-existant in NS4. Take what TGPO said to be a warning that if you were to branch out into NS3.5, you would likely be shunned.
If you do rebuild it, however, try not to make the same mistakes as were previously done, i.e. telling your guild-mates to use exploits.

But, it's such a draining job that, until you've DMed on an NWN server yourself, you the playerbase, have got to cut the DMs some slack. - Flailer

I have little interest in that actually. I've only played NS4, to be honest, the reason I came here in the first place is because at the time it was one of the only servers I could find that used both the OC and SoU but not HotU, and I wanted a server that used as much of the game I had as possible.TheBestDeception wrote:There isnt. I might try out the old NS now that I have HotU, but I have no plans to build the guild up over there.
Could you be more specific? To be honest the only exploits I really know about are the ones that incur an XP loss from pking by using summons, stone to flesh, etc, which I don't do.If you do rebuild it, however, try not to make the same mistakes as were previously done, i.e. telling your guild-mates to use exploits.
One of the goals of the guild was to follow the rules of NS, and I intend to follow through with that. I want the guild to be here to set a good example for the players of NS.

I was not referring to you specifically, but instead, was talking about the guild in general. I visited their web site many times, and indeed it stated the goal to be to follow the rules. Another of their goals was not to use bad language to DMs ... I could only imagine the guild declaring a day a success simply because no one yelled something obscene at a deity... But seriously, this rule was put in to effect because of an event that occurred, whether you were informed of it or not.
Perhaps under new leadership it could regain a reputation of upholding the rules.

Yes, do not mistake my dismay
of the previous leadership as a discouragement from forming. Guilds are a fun part of the server, which unfortunately are mostly lacking at the moment.
Beyond the existing guild(s?), anyone should feel free to band together a group of players. It can change things quite a bit if done correctly.

I think I know what you mean now. I know there were some members who had a tendancy to cause trouble, argue on shout, bad mouth DMs and so on. I do intend to keep this sort of stuff to a minimum. Like I said, I want the guild to set an example for the other players. I made an updated list of rules when I took over that was written up partially because of some of these problems and posted them on the new Brethren website.TheBestDeception wrote:I was not referring to you specifically, but instead, was talking about the guild in general. I'm thinking of setting up a guild page on BioWare's site for the guild. Would this be a problem or not? I wouldn't think so, but I want to be sure first.
