Faction Colors

Post by Flailer »

Actually put it on DD's list to add a few dyes per store. Someone want to make a list of suggested colors for each faction?
Ok - I'll bite

Going off of what the bind point colors are/supposed to be and what the logical color choices should be based on some of the boss/guard colors and the general 'feel' of the faction.

Last Alliance: Primary Colors: Black and Blue
Based on the blue bind point, black and blue alliance plate and alliance helm.
Trim colors: bright blue (based on Robe of Leonsbane)

Ancient Ones: Primary Colors: Green and Red
Based on green bind point, dragons (duh), and fire.
Trim colors: Bright green

Mystral Ascendency: Primary Colors: Cyan and Yellow
Based on cyan bind point, colors of Imbued Mystral Robes.
Trim: Red/orange (colors for sorcerors should be fabulous!)

Northern Coalition: Primary Colors: Yellow and White
Based on bind point, colors of guard armor and shields.
Trim: Silver? All that is holy?

Ragnar's Kin: Primary Colors: Gold and Silver/Metallic
Based on armor of bosses and dwarves like shiny ores.
Trim: Red? Based on bind point color and forging fires.

Shadow Legion: Primary Colors: Easy - black/midnight and purple
Based on bind point and boss armors.
Trim: Red - based on Naz'ez robe and blood/hate

The Circle: Primary Colors - Green and Yellow
Based on bind point, boss armors.
Trim: Brown. The Circle likes dirt.

How's that? :D

i'd say that is a pretty good direction to start in with factional colors. maybe think about adding some misc colors to each that can be bought in any store, but a few colors that are factional specific as far as finding in the stores.

On second thought, change Last Alliance to Grey/Steel and Blue. That's actually closer to what the LA armor and helms are and if it was black, that might be too close to SL, which LA definately wouldn't want...

Plus, blue and grey are classic military colors.

Though, one thing does concern me about some of the colours...

Would we only want these colours available in factional cities or would other cities be able to carry them? An obvious example is Avendell. Since it is a city of trade, then it would make sense that all colours would be available there...

Additionally, would you want to put some dyes in Frostdale for purchase?

I think the idea of the factions primary colors only being available in that city store (or even Alvin) would incourage people to wear their factions colors. It would make it harder for someone of a different faction to "impersonate" another faction. Perhaps Avendel might carry other exotic dyes (pitch black, pure white, ect) for characters that don't want to play out their factions colors, but I think the basic idea of each faction carrying it's colors would lend itself to characters actually showing faction colors. Just my 2-cents worth.
