hello all
recenlty started playing NWN again and coming from EQ2 needed something with a challange.
so I solo alot and dig spellcasters which seem like they would do well in this game
which would be perferable
a cleric / CoT which is a melee buff monster
or a fighter / mage

casters do good inhere, espacially at lvl 20+.
May option was mostly Cleric ( caster or melee fighter creation) and at the end i tried out some ranger combos like rgr/sd, rgr/wm, rgr/mnk/wm and they did all good, espacially the 15rgr/3mnk/7sd dual wielding rapier; was hitting critical hits like 70% of the time and dealing 70-140 damage each crit hit.
Thou some ppl paly pure wizards or sorceress, never tried it cuase i think it lame gaming, but in the aspect over surviving and damage dealing they did an awsome work.

If you're going to be a mage there isn't much worrying to do, just take Bigbies Crushing Hand, Isaac's Greater Missle Storm, empower spell, max spell, and maybe even still spell, and you pretty much got it made. Any dumby can make a mage using the two cheese spells though.
As for cleric's, they not as cheesy but close, just make sure you take extend spell and build him as you would build a fighter only make sure to have enough wisdom for the spells you gonna use and you're set.

Want a challenge? Go with a bard. Pure. Or make a mage without the "instant win spells." That is, no isaac's, no bigby's, no wail, etc. ;)

Pure bard is way easy. Just make sure to take heavy armor feat and say screw the spells.
I have a near-pure bard, has 1 level of fighter for heavy armor and martial and he's slow but sure, level 19 and does way better than a pure warior would. Main thing against him is having only 3 attack/round and low hp.

Oh and if you're going to do that you HAVE TO take Northern Coalition as your faction, or else no CoT for ya...tald311 wrote:Thank you all - that helps.
I think I will go with the Cleric / CoT build - I like melee and weapons and have always had a soft spot in my heart for Harm even though its a bit overpowered.

I'm unsure of the exact formula, but each of the Inflict/Harm spells is dependent upon its level and the level of its target; each does a certain percentage of damage. EG - A Heal spell cast on the minotaur chief can do over 500hp of damage, despite it being capped at 150 in PnP. Harm operates in the same way against fellow living players.

Ah. I thought they were still going with the 10 per CL up to 150 for harm. I know Healing spells are a funky fresh algorithm that does a percentage with some set minimum and maximum (Healing domain helping a bit).
