Uknown char in vault
I saw the PC 'Patha Amraphen' on in two different instances at the same time today. Now, this char has shown up in my vault. Anybody else?

People sharing a connection need to be made aware of the fact that they one of them needs to go into the nwnplayer.ini of one of the installations and change the port number of their Client from 5121 to something else. Like 5122.....
A DM with access to the server display would be able to spot the people connectioning from the same IP Address that are causing this problem and tell them how to fix it. I forget it its recorded in the logs.
Apparently failure to do this causes the problems mentioned above but it can also lead to character corruption!
One PW I used to play on had a Sticky Post telling people to do this.

nwnplayer.ini:
clientport:5120 (default)
all you have to do if you have multiple computers playing behind the same router is edit that number so that no two computers have the same one.
5121, 5122, 5123, and on and on.
p.s. if playing a character that doesnt belong to you (i.e. you didnt create it in the first place) get ready to explain yourself to an annoyed DM.

I too had that in the vault... and to be honest, I thought it was one of mine that I started... I'm new to the server and have been starting a few builds to try...Flailer wrote:I saw the PC 'Patha Amraphen' on in two different instances at the same time today. So... if I have over-stepped the bounds... my humblest apologies...
Query: is there any way to delete the character?

that should have to be done anyways, since you won't be able to connect to gamespy without having the second client on a seperate port.
The first client will still receve incoming packets ment for the second client, if they are both set up on the same port, and so the second client won't even be able to login to gamespy

Again, no there isn't.Deathreach wrote:Query: is there any way to delete the character?
But, it's such a draining job that, until you've DMed on an NWN server yourself, you the playerbase, have got to cut the DMs some slack. - Flailer
