I have been playing Neverwinter Nights since it was released. I have completed the original game several times, through all of the expansions, premium modules, Tons of user created Mods. NS4 is by FAR the best of the best... It has shamed the original game and set the bar for anyone attempting to make a Mod.
But... I sent in a donation after playing only one week... I figured that I would be willing to pay if it were legal for NS4 to charge so what the heck. Then the servers were down through most of Christmas break.. (no big deal this is Beta after all). I was happy to play again after D.D. was able to get the whole server thing moving in Texas... Then the wipe (Cool)... Power supply problem .. I completely understand.. I have had 2 go out in the last 12 months. it happens!

I am sure I am forgetting something in this progression ... My point is this.
Everything is acceptable except the SILENCE!
There have been only 4 or 5 relevent posts by any of the developers since December. I have a few extra $ but I have no idea what is going on.. is NS4 just going to fade away with lack of attention, therin wasting my donation. Is it going to stay beta until NWN2 comes out and *poof* no one is playing.
I would be happy to contribute to the cause ... but not blindly
So to the Developers i would ask only this .. could you let us know what is going on. Just a few short lines in General Discussion or News will be enough fo me.

I think its more of a suggestion then a request....
And i think me and a few others have mentioned this also... It realy sucks being in the dark about everything...
There needs to be way more communication from, AND within, the ns team...
The DMs need to be more active... all i ever realy see are the new DMs... all of the old names seem to be fadeing away...
There needs to be more communication between the Devs and the DMs also...
Alot of the time a DM is sitting on the server saying "Nothing i can do about that... we dont have access"
The DMs need the ability to restart the servers!!!! Please! its so bad that players and DMs both have had to start finding ways to crash the server so it restarts, because all of the areas slowly stop respawning.
Yes, this oooold bug still exists, and not a single acknowledgement, let alone status of a fix, for this bug. Do the Devs even know its there?
The silence... ugh! =(
I think its ignorant to think that the NS community will quit if they see how slow the development is going...
They are seeing it first hand.
So stop hiding it!
Dont tell us "soon" unless its within the next 2 weeks.
Devs should keep open logs... perhaps make a forum catagory named "Developers Notes"
Each dev gets his own forum in there, and he creates a thread for every day he puts work into it
Not necisarily so we can see how much (or little) work a dev is doing... but so we can see the things they are working on, and we can post feedback on the changes
They could make stickys of theads where they want feedback on the changes... they could lock a thead if its fixed etc...
Plus, this would let us players see that it does get worked on occasionaly, and we can feel a bit more closer to the development of the realm...
I think it would get you more donations, if the players see that things are getting worked on... and they feel that they are being listened too...
More people in IRC would also help... Players AND NS Team members alike...
Although, DV, TGPO, TBD, Kala, Pros, are on alot...
I'm often the only player thats in the channel.... Mr and Mz still idle there... i see lothy and Sarahn in there right now...
And alot of the site is unpollished and rather crude... If you guys want someone to work on the site, i'd be more then willing to... I know php/mysql/perl and could probably fix it up a bit...
IE: get rid of the ns docs in the forums, and move them to proper pages, branded just like the front page, add a java IRC client to the site, put up a tutorial on how to get mirc/xchat going, write up a 'beginners guide' that explains a few things nicer for new players, make the 'random screenshot' thing better (lol it sucks right now, sorry!)
Oh, and i'd like to point out the suckage factor that increased when Accelerator got cut... why was he dropped?

Currently we are trying to reassign some dev duties since some of the newer dev team members took a break and haven't returned as of yet. Getting sunken and frostdale linked in is the next item on our plate. Time to do all this is not easy to find.
