Did you remove the level 25 cap and put in the epic areas which have been sitting around completed for months?
If not I would be just as bored with this place a week from now as I was a month ago.

What exactly does shortly mean?
A.) Shortly as in we are loading it as we speak, and it will be live in a few hours?
B.) Shortly as in announced in Oct. and still not live nearly into Feb now?
C.) Shortly as in never, because the last few people who actually cared about this place gave up on it already and moved on to servers that actually have work done on them?

I know your frustrated Arashi, but there's certainly no reason to be about it. That, I'm guessing, won't help. I like NS as much as the next guy (well, maybe more) and would love to see more/faster progress, but for something that's free, I don't feel we've got the license to get ed about it.
I'm just sayin'....

Actually we didnt give up on the world, we had some server issues and spent a few months focusing on ns3.5 to give it a facelift since it has a huge player base stiill.
NS4 is still a work in progress and we will be doing more development work on it starting now.
We are working on getting Frostdale and Sunken isle opened asap and doing some econ tweaks. We are also going to startup quest development again and hopefully Lokey and I can get the planar areas worked on some more and get those in down the road.

From everyone I have talked to (almost all of the DMs) the Frostdale and Sunken Isle areas have been like 95% finished for months, just waiting for someone to add the transitions to get into them.
I was beginning to get a little bored with NS4 back in October...then the changes log was posted, giving everyone hope that the epic areas were right around the corner...started getting even more bored in December...then they updated to 1.65 and supposedly implemented the changes log...which only had a fraction of the listed changes...a few of the higher level players that were getting as bored and frustrated as myself had a bit of a rumble one night, next thing you know there is a level 25 cap on characters, making most of the characters of the long-time players un-playable, making alot of them leave for other servers...then the server went down. Server comes back online, I stop by a few times...dont recognize a single player logged on, the population is a fraction of what it used to be, all of the long time players who had high level characters seem to be gone...now we have a wipe, I stop in once or twice to see a handfull of level 1-5s, none of whom I know.
Its quite sad how far downhill this place has fallen out of simple neglect...it went from one of the best servers around, with an average of 20+ players online at almost any time of day or night, down to a server with a smattering of players, less than 10 on at peak times...
The only reason I still come around the boards is that NS4 is one of the most promising servers Ive seen, Ive yet to find another server with as much promise as this one...all this place needs is people to work on it (and actually install the work that gets done)

I often wonder where some players ideas come from. Each and every Dev or DM understand what it is like from a players point of view, they have all been in your shoes.
Neversummer4 is in Beta, it's posted everywhere. With most betas there maybe downtime, vault wipes or mishaps that could make you have to start a charater over.
I see complaining about a player cap of 25. I am sure they have reasons as why they have done this that does not include trying to ruin anyones fun. A mod is in OPEN BETA so it can be player TESTED.
I would recommend building a charater and reporting bugs in a descriptive manner to help the developers fix them. Running ones mouth off complaining about them does not help much.
I have experienced this problem in other mods as well. Constructive posts help to remedy a problem. Critisizing ones only frustrate the DM/Dev team and does not give any valuable information to help.
If I were some of you and if I wanted to play on a mod, I'd do all I could to help it, not hender it! Not being a Developer or DM does not mean you can't help develope it! Do all you can do to make their job easier and more enjoyable so they and you can get to where it needs to be! I know, it's hard to want to work on something when all you hear is negitivities....

I agree with Mz_Shadow.
without feedback the devs are hampered in fixing things.

I have no idea what Mz's post has to do with this thread...I played NS4 for months, reported any problems I found, played numerous characters to try out different aspects of the world, then got bored due to the stagnation of the server...no updates, no new content, even with as large of a world as NS has, there is still only so much to do.
I understand fully that this is a beta server, I have no problem with character wipes, I was rather looking forward to the wipe...it cleared off the dozens of no-longer used characters from my account. Before the wipe I could power-level a character from level 1-20 in a couple days, its hardly a loss, even for my best characters.
As far as constructive criticism, seems kind of pointless when it takes them 6 months just to install updates which have been sitting around for who knows how much longer...Ive made dozens of suggestions since I started here. I spent probably 5 months playing along happilly, informing DMs of any problems I found, or posting them here on the forums.
It wasnt untill this place started falling apart due to neglect that I started being so vocal with my frustration...slowly watching all of the long-time players drift away, waiting and waiting for updates, etc, etc.
I dont know about you guys, but in the time since I stopped actively playing on NS4 and searching for other servers, Ive tried probably 20+ other open beta servers, ever single one of them had active devs...most got updates either at regular schedules (weekly, etc) or just as soon as the dev was finished scripting it, etc...
Here on NS its rare to even hear from a dev, even for the DMs...when the level cap was implemented there was no warning, none of the DMs heard anything about it till it was enforced...every one of them that was on at the time was just as baffled as the player base was.
NS is one of the best examples of a PW I have seen...but one of the worst examples of how to properly run one.

And you still whine... The devs have lives as well and they don't always go as well as those of the devoted players. You don't see everything that goes on behind the scenes. And very few resources were used for NS3.5 that were going into 4. The 3.5 updates were done by some DMs that wanted to try their hands at developing, not the NS4 Devs. Sheesh.

Whining is what we all do so let us accept the fact. The reason for the whine is that this server is the best and for us die hard fans we want to see good for this server is all. Arashi is a gentle and intelligent fello who strives to see this server to be the best. I played w/ Arashi and know he means well people!! He is a different character then me and ppl that know me, know the fact. He means well folks is all and is blowing off a lil steam is all, I have searched and this NS4(beta) is balanced and that is what draws me too it. So plz ppl show a lil respect when one is blowing a lil steam or whining. It is not a blunt blow againest you but a step forwarded for all of us. My the FARCE be w/ us.. Enjoy

Actually it was mostly focused at you, Rydd. :) Your blanket statement that dev focus is pointed at 3.5 and is taking away from 4 when it's two separate teams. I'm just venting, please show me some respect.
