Where shouls I spend my skill points for a pure Wizard
Where shouls I spend my skill points for a pure Wizard
I have been saving my skill points because I am not sure where I should spend them.. I have taken Concentration, Lore, Spellcraft with a few points in Heal. I have no intention of taking another class and dumpiing points I really just can't decide what is best.
Well.... if you want to be a PvP force to be reckoned with... Bank oodles of points and then take a rogue level around 23rd or so and pump Spot and Tumble through the roof. Also take a level of something with Discipline as a class skill and pump that too! Then you can take Epic Skill Focus Spot or Discipline. Maybe Bard is a good idea as they have Disc and Tumble. Then again so do Monks. Depends what alignment you are I guess.
Buffing (with True Seeing + Forest Helm etc) to 65 spot helps you bash Shadowdancers.
Having 65 Discipline (possible at 25th with epic focus + items) helps stop people Improved KDing the crap out of you and beating you into the dust.
But if you don't multiclass, that's cool too. As Spot and Discipline wont save your [censored] in a caster fight. Which is what you'll have when I run into you

Don't need disable trap or open lock as wizard.TTG wrote:Listen, Spot, Disable Trap, Open Lock, Discipline, Tumble, and the like are all useful in different aspects. It really depends what you want to be able to do. I'd recommend Discipline or Tumble mainly though.
U also need spellcraft and concentration on top of what u mentioned.
Discipline is a must, or u'll get about 1-2 spells to cast before u hit the floor. About tumble: is there any reason NOT to take it if you can?
Discipline is a waste unless you're a melee build. The most disc a pure wizard can train is something like 15, tops. Add in skill focus for another 3 and yer at 18. Ok, so you have a str of 20(+5) after buffs. That's another 5, and yer up to 23 discipline. Add in the +10 from rings, the +7 gloves, and you now have a total of 40 discipline. This means that someone with a +30 AB needs to only roll an 11 to KD you. But wait...if you're using two +5 rings for disc, that means you're missing +10 from conc! Wow, your conc is now only 30ish, so I only need to roll above 30 to make you lose concentration! HA! Yer so screwed.nargileh wrote:Discipline is a must, or u'll get about 1-2 spells to cast before u hit the floor.

Violence will not be tolerated. Surrender or be destroyed.
With Epic Skill Focus you can hit 65-ish disc. I'd rather have that than +1 INT or any epic spells (besides Epic Warding). Forget the +10 concentration, if you're really worried take Combat Casting and Epic Combat Casting (no attacks of opportunity from casting).
Discipline + Tumble = escaping melee range. Then when you're at a safe distance you swing around and hit them with a Bigbies. Of course if you haven't cast expeditious retreat or haste you wont be able to out-distance them. But who in their right mind runs around at normal speed????
Alternatively if you can't out-distance your attacker, 65 Disc gives you a chance to stand there and smack them with a Bigbies. Once that lands you can take your time death-magicing or Maxed IGMSing them.
But that just my opinon.

Fine by me if you ignore the option to multiclass a melee build and use the banked up skillpoints. For everyone else I suggest monk, since those also have listen and tumble on top of discipline.Teladro wrote:Discipline is a waste unless you're a melee build.
