Useless Skills

Hey devs, think you could add a section to the documentation about what skills will not be used in NS4? For example, are Bluff, Intimidate, and Persuasion used? Or do you have a future plan for them?

On that point are the scribe scroll feats required for...well scribing scrolls or is it an implementation that the NS team has created?

Well, don't take any of the NWN crafting feats of skills. Since those are custom-scripted in NS4 the standard feats and skills aren't used/aren't enabled.

The Bioware feats for Scribe Scroll, Brew Potion, and Craft Wand are worthless in NS4. There's a custom system in place... don't waste the feat slots.

will people still be able to use craft armor/weapon to modify their gear?

also, will craft trap be useable?

(Would also like to know about the Craft Trap skill. No more problems with the components spawning now that the mod is going up to SoU, right?)

those skills are almost as useless as hide/move silently/listen/spot
when true seeing items are on a server :)

It states in the spell description for true seeing that it sees hidden players as well, is it going to be like this in ns4? On some other servers it has been coded to where it still allows for people with true seeing on can still be snuck up upon by stealthers, any hints on how it is going to work here?
Be kind of nice if true seeing didnt automatically help them spot someone who was hiding, or it could give a bonus to spot check for that, but not out right spot them everytime.

what about skills like perform and tumble. beyond their game-mechanics applications they are really fun RP skills. wandering acrobatic minstral anyone? will there be a way (like an emote wand or something) to make a skill check for no other reason than RP? (and please don't bash this for being "too RP for a PW action server" because I'm not saying everyone has to use these skills for that or anything)

Toxic - I have't found any items of true seeing on the NS4 server yet - and I've been beta testing for months.

Nymm - Almost every spell has been touched, tweaked, reworked or rescripted for NS4. Lokey is still working on finalizing them. I don't know the specfics of how any one spell has been changed from the Bioware standards, I just know that every one has had to be adjusted in some way to fit "our" database.

Gil-Este - I like the idea. :) I have played too many bards in PnP not to wish there was more they could do in NWN and NS.

Some of the other skills that I have found fairly "useless" are the aforementioned Bluff, Persuade, Appraise. The devs may be incorporating them later, but at this point, I don't take them. Craft Trap works - you have to have points in both Craft Trap and Set Trap to make and use a trap. The merchants won't buy traps you've crafted at this point. Maybe later. :)

Will the spell description you get online (i.e. in your spellbook or when selecting the spell at level-up for bards and sorcs) reflect those changes?

Most tweaks are to bring spells more in line with their description. When time permits, we'll document divergences from the in game description.

Unfortunately, this does mean that many spells that are popular in NS3 will be listed (it's gonna hurt when the exploits go away...I abused many a spell in my time too).
