Question about the Avendell rule
Could a dev/DM please clarify for me? The Avendell "no fighting" rule, does that extend to the guards? I'm not a PKer anyway so it's not an issue either way to not fight players in Avendell, but I wanted one of my characters to raid the guards and see what they drop if this is allowed }: )

It falls under the Role Playing aspect, if a deity catches anyone disturbing the homage being paid by the trading that occurs in Avendell from the likes of any race or creature, then expect to face the wrath of the Gods. If you choose to attack in Avendell then you take the chance of being struck down.
Now for where this information is found:
In the Faction Forum, Last Alliance, Territories of the Last Alliance. There is a paragraph there that says it all and here it is......
Avendell: While technically considered part of Last Alliance territory, the town of Avendell has gone to great lengths to advertise its desire to remain neutral in the battle for the realm. Consequently, the town has become something of a safe haven for travelers who wish for a life that consists of more than faction battles. A city of trade and commerce, it is a place where all factions are welcome and violence of any kind is strictly forbidden. Merchants, traders, and artisans from all over the realm come here to sell their goods. The town is a special favorite of bards, who bring stories from their respective factions and recount them in wonderful detail, much to the delight of residents and travelers who happen to be nearby.
As far as getting banned for causing havoc in Avendell, not likely unless harassment, abuse or exploiting are factors.

You won't get banned for killing guards. But they will become hostile to you. So will the merchants. Since Avendell is currently the only place to sell the higher level gear, consider carefully before killing the Avendell Watch.
And if one of the Gods catches you, you may find yourself struck by lightning, or wandering in the wastelands somewhere, trying to find your way home.

I attacked in retaliation for Arilyn killing my other character, which was effortless to him, and surrounded by ogres. His reason for attacking? I asked him what level he was, he answered "engouh", I said pfft and walked away. So then he followed me, waited til i was badly wounded, then attacked. My other character is level 11 he is 19.
If he is going to disregard some rules then hide behind others, don't expect me to oblige him. I was just paying him back with a single kill, which still has not been redeemed.
I have a screenshot of him admitting to the kill as well

Sry, off topic, time to lock the thread unless we bring it back to the proper subject:isami wrote:I attacked in retaliation for Arilyn killing my other character, which was effortless to him, and surrounded by ogres. Like Lady Cheron said, "You won't get banned for killing guards. But they will become hostile to you. So will the merchants. Since Avendell is currently the only place to sell the higher level gear, consider carefully before killing the Avendell Watch.

Basically:
Attack a NPC, you'll be PK'd by a DM/Deity if caught.
Attack a PC while under the attention of a DM and you're totally screwed.
SUCKAZZZ!!!

I'd prefer this for the avendell rule:
Dm's catch you pvp'ing, both sides are smote by gods, possibly by cows, penguins, or lightning.
Screenshots- nada. Too hard to prove what happened, stories can be started, and besides, the gods didn't see you do it, so giving their oop players proof is worthless. So, sure, shout to the gods that you're being attacked in avendell, but not the ppl that play them after the fact.
I think that works pretty well.

I totally agree, was just adding a "possible" alternative for the devs to consider.AndrewCarr wrote:I'd prefer this for the avendell rule:

I think the current No Hostile Action rule for Avendell is the right, proper, and good rule for Avendell.
