Winter Relic Event 2011 MVP

Post by DM_Sultan »

Post here for your choice of MVP for the Winter Relic Event. List toon name, to the best you can remember it, and why they should get MVP.

It's really not fair to declare a single MVP for this event, nor is it any easier to pick one from each faction. I defer to the DM/Devs who had glimpses of the event to award to at their leisure.

Liked seeing bard/sd (Marble), caster druid!/sd (Midterm), some other interesting things. (Some IO) was lighting things up on Friday with his AA, but he didn't do it alone of course, and MA rolled out some interesting casters too.

So why not doing 1 mvp per faction like before?

I'm advocating for something better than that. It's not fair to even pick one per faction. What's an award anyway... the majority of votes too often go to recognizable names and popularity. The noob, the homeland defender, and/or the persona non grata get dissed.

However, I don't see any reason why opinions can't be swayed ;)

I wasn't able to attend the event due to RL, but I logged in the last 2 hours of the final heat, was good honest clean fun :) Thanks for the PvP, was nice to see the PvP this server used to have come full blossom again : ) the best part was 3 factions beating on each other making it utter chaos :) love it !!!!!

There were lots of good players and it is very hard to pick MVP. I'm really hoping that you all will name names and I will be able to award something to more than one.

A few I took note of:
Monkey for his job as cleric and for running the relic to TC after running all the way to NC so he could cap it legitimately
KOS-MOS and his partner (can't recall his name) for the excellent taunting job they did in the first heat.
Lurker and his friend (again) from RR who stayed and fought to the bitter end and wrecked havoc with their SDs in MA.
Hemerroid of DD for excellent SD and being a total pain to kill
The AA from DD who was just awesome with the bow and arrow kills (was it Nigel, help me out here).
I agree with Lokey about Marble Lady. She seemed to live longer than most and tormented with style.
J.P. for good play and for not spamming shout when asked - still, he did pick at Torm with no respect. Well done for an evil one! hehe

The list goes on and on. Give me some names of people who stood out in your mind. Fill in the blanks where I can't remember the names.

Think of it this way.. you introduced her to NS4.. you encouraged her exploration.. you trained her at the art of PvP...

She is your padawan.. thus by extension.. all her victories and faliures are yours...

Weeeeasel was kicking buttt playing his AA on Friday. JP didnt make it till sunday. Though when he reloged his AA (Walnut) it was as piercing as his shouts.

Have to completly agree here.. To blazes with the MVP.. lets instead each person share thier personal perspective of each heat.

While Masl and Aorks enjoyed a continous PvP if they participated.

TNC had the man power to do things like :
A) Maintain a sneak proof two stage defence in Daeron.
B) Deploy toons to key watch points (Byrn, Oasis, Ave crossing, etc)
C) And continously assualt Garagoth.

Toons involved with A or B.. didnt have to oppurtunity to shine, when attention was on the front lines. Yet thier contabutions were key to the fact that Daeron was never under real threat.

And a special thanks to Finred of MADD and the two aorks a tlb and RR, realy sorry that the names escape me atm, who took the time to travel to NC and raid despite the odds.

My thanks goes to the many non guilded non forum players who flocked to TNC and let us deploy such an extensive campain.

My kudos goes to MASL.. who deployed a very well cordinated and diverse defence.. very well done..

And Twigs -Fury- felt a special honnor with all the effort spent in preventing Twigs arrivial in Gargoth. (next time less defence.. more chomp n squalsh)

To recap... Id like to see each person share thier personal experaince for eacn of the three heats. Surely more players than I have specific memores of the first heat and the AO relic curse. I know Torm does.

How can you not mention the relic first bugged... or how as the ao relic was being carried to NC by a NC toon.. the server crashed and it went back to sleeth.... TWICE.. so much more juice can be squeezed from this stone. Thats just the headlines.. Twig has more.. and would love to hear monkeys view, or the Masl toon who actually stole it and died at the gates (bugging relic :P).. etc
Twig (TSS) - Twig [CLAD] - Twigs -Fury- - SyNfully Rotted Twig - Twig'lee -Down Under- - Twig'zilla

Fergus Glonshire [FoN] - Sakij Lovac [FoN] - Zatharus Rivermoon (TSS) - Bumble (TSS) - Body built for SyN

Ajantis works very hard designing my great builds, and shows much patience when I mess up the levels and fight stupid. I agree some of my successes are to his credit. ;)

Let us not forget to give special credit to Twig handling all the shouts, party talk, and pm's. It was so easy knowing who to contact for a next move as he received our suggestions and questions...when he wasn't eating.

How wonderful it was having all the new and newer players to this year's relic war. They showed no intimidation from any enemy, whoever it was. We won again, but this year the army looked very different.

For AO/RK:
I was on my bard Kaletta for the entirety of the last 2 rounds (I must be the "friend", I'm glad no one remembers my constant raiding and defending.....)
I had to work during the first, I don't know who was on, sounds like Lurker was there.
Vega was with me for the second round, and Finnoker for the third. Pharen was around for a time during both those last 2 rounds.

I'd also like to note, Lokey is the only poster to have a "join date" ahead of mine 8)

I say we go back to faction MVP; I've played in a majority of the relic events since that join date, and haven't won anything. With so few numbers, i suppose i have a better shot this time

That was me on the AA (Archie Bunker) on Friday. I switched to a PM Wiz CON build for Saturday (Willy) just so I could watch people commit suicide on my Death Armor :P then was back on Archie for part of the final heat that I could make.

That was Bargeld on Edgil ::DD:: (I think i have the spelling right)

I don't know who stole it when it got bugged. I was called to Sleeth to assist and ran there from Avendell Crossing to help. When I found it bugged I pointed it out to one of the many newbies who was playing for TNC in their first relic event. As a joke I typed "/makesaferelic s" in party chat and perhaps the laughter of the gods shook it loose.

At that time we all thought the normal relic capping policy applied so I took it to NC where I planned to log off and drop it for an NC player to cap. After a long series of backroom discussions between DMs and faction leaders were concluded I was told to run it back to TC. MASL had control of Beryn, but my cleric/monk/sd was fast enough and tough enough to kill that I was able to run it through to cap in Melencia while they were busy killing my newbie escorts.

I thought MASL did a heroic job of fighting to defend their cradle against repeated assaults in all three events when they were far outnumbered. The spotter/archers were the ones that gave me the most trouble. They kept me running around behind walls to heal myself in between healing and raising others in the raiding parties.

It was a lot of fun on Sunday trying to keep the Garagoth map cleared (to annoy MASL, knowing that raiders must be hidden somewhere outside the cradle so they wouldn't push out to attack), and trying to help our raiding parties slowly kill off the epics they had guarding the cradle.

Mith played a really good speedy cleric and we took turns raising each other in Garagoth for awhile, keeping the map cleared. He was really tough to kill.

Twig did a great job coordinating the TNC forces at the start of the events to try and get an early edge in the relic count. That's really where the events were won.

To me, the real MVPs in TNC were the one's who were willing to stay home in Daeron guarding our relics while the rest of us were having fun battling MASL.
